Z340 has been solved!

BREAKING NEWS

Last weekend, the 340 was solved and submitted to the FBI.
They have confirmed the solution.
Authorities have spent the time since then making the appropriate notifications to the victims’ families.
Now that the notification process is complete, we are announcing the solution in the latest episode of “Let’s Crack Zodiac”.

Dave--do you know why the need to inform the victims' families? I could see if one of their names was brought up, but don't understand why the need. Just curious...

Jaw dropping the dedication put into this (and all the other ciphers) is incredible well done to all the clever people involved, now then Fred manalli mentions the “gas chamber” in a letter to his literary agent when he had been questioned over the death/disappearance of one of his students, IMO either Kim Allen or Jeanette kamahale! Fred was highly intelligent and this cipher was created by a highly intelligent mind, sorry for going off topic a bit as this clearly will go down in history as being solved fifty odd years later I doth my hat to all involved

Dave--do you know why the need to inform the victims' families? I could see if one of their names was brought up, but don't understand why the need. Just curious...

It's probably a standard matter of courtesy any time there is progress in the case that affected their love ones.
But more importantly, I think, they needed to be prepared for the onslaught of media attention.
I can only imagine that the combination of that and yet another awful message from Zodiac would re-traumatize them.

Anybody found the word 'BECAUSE', yet? What about the rest of the cipher, as the previous could be accidential / entered by a person itself?

As I still can't see any solution any help is appreciated, thanks.

Last weekend, the 340 was solved and submitted to the FBI.

The last two lines of the 340 is the 3rd part. Oranchak already mentioned finding Paradice written backwards on the last line. Melvin Belli last name is also written backwards just above Paradice on the 2nd to last line. I do not know if anyone mentioned this yet.

Maybe the last two vertical lines were a vague clue to the contents of the first 2 parts of the cipher. Zodiac mention "Gas Chamber" which Belli mentions on the Dunbar show. He also talks about Paradice and Death in the first 2 parts.

BELLI spelled ILLEB........Melvin Belli was inspirational for the contexts of the cipher.

Looking at the key showing the replacements, I noticed that the symbol - was used in place of what would be correct for the letter U.(BECAASE,FAN/BECAUSE/FUN)
Precisely the symbol of the Zodiac. This is more evidence of the great path of this decoding that the guys did

Marcelo, that's an interesting observation. It's possible he drew on his cipher as one of the last steps, maybe putting random symbols in places to make the cipher look more interesting. And that could explain things like misspellings.
