What exactly is or was OPORD (analytical)?

I've seen various references and I'm guessing it was some kind of forum (now offline) where the members engaged in cryptology of various unsolved ciphers.

Was more than cryptology, as I recall it.

It was, basically, Chris Farmer's site. He claimed to have solved both this and that - including the Z case. And the forum was a conspiracy theory fest of some kind. That's how I remember it anyway. It wasn't a crypto forum as much as a nutjob forum.

The site still exists, it seems, albeit as a front page only. But the forum is down. Good riddance, many would say. I wouldn't vehemently disagree.

Yeah, Norse is pretty much correct. The OPORD site, at various times, claimed to have solved everything from Kryptos, the Scorpion Ciphers, all of the Zodiac Ciphers, the MH370 missing jet, and various cold cases. And claimed the Zodiac was Gareth Penn.

The site I listed above continues with accusing Penn.
