Well done to MikeR. The front cover is a fantastic design, the typesetting looks fab, and from the Amazon sample the writing looks crisp and descriptive.

Whatever one believes about the validity of Mr R's suspect, no-one can doubt that he is a genuine and honest amateur detective of the highest order. This promises to to be an enthralling account of Mike's long-term research into (and encounters with) Mr X, and his dogged pursuit of the dratted Z.

Hi-

For those few of you who may have read my new ebook, I have an extensive and detailed profile of Zodiac, as well as a profile of the Bates murderer. Mr. Richard Walter, who is one of the top profilers in the world, believes that the profile of Zodiac is much different from that of the Bates murderer. For those of you who write your own profiles, I know that is of little consequence. However, for those of you who don't, I will say this after my interactions with Mr. Walter: I believe that while Ross was not Zodiac, I do believe that, based on the profile of the Bates murderer, he is an excellent suspect in the murder of Cheri Jo Bates.

The murderer of Bates needed an excuse to walk up to her (i.e., disabling her car) because he was a shy, retiring type who did not interact well with women. He liked her and wanted to express that emotion but needed an excuse to do so. From what I can tell, Ross fits this to a tee. Zodiac didn't need any excuse to walk up to you and blow you away. Think about that. Z's crimes were based on a different underlying reason than the Bates murder. Different profiles.

I am not going to go into the specifics of the profiles because I want people to read my book. Even if you disagree with my suspect, I have thought-provoking interpretations of Zodiac's two bus bomb diagrams, an interesting observation about the radian and a new explanation for the "batwing" symbol on the Avery Halloween card that points to someone who is very familiar with Norse culture. My book, unlike all others written on the case, is exhaustively documented with nearly 200 footnotes, so you can retrace my steps and validate my evidence. It represents 18 years of research into the case.

This is for those of you who have an open mind...I don't expect that I will convince everyone or even nearly everyone here that the profiles differ. But please don't tell me that someone who lived in Santa Cruz would by definition be as familiar with PH as Qvale was. I do not try to say that Qvale knew Riverside (or even RCC campus alone) as well as Ross did simply because he was down there for an auto race on the weekend Bates was killed.

For any other questions you may have about my 18 years of research ...it's all in my book. I made it very comprehensive for a reason. If anyone has a question about these profiles or anything else, feel free to PM me.

I did try to get in touch with "AQvale," who posted last summer to this site. They have not replied. I find the attitude of the family both noble admirable, in that while they would be horrified to learn that KQ was Z, they are putting their own interests behind the greater good, are keeping an open mind and want what is best for the families of the victims wherever the truth lies. This blew me away! They deserve a lot of credit for the concern they have for the many victims of the Zodiac killer and their loved ones, who number far more than just the people Z stabbed or shot. This includes police detectives, whose lives were consumed with solving the case, as well as untold numbers of amateur investigators from around the world, whose lives were consumed with obsession over the identity of this man.

Hi,

There are mild spoilers in here.

I am a bit surprised that nobody here has apparently read my book. At least there are no specific comments on it to date. As a teaser, I want to say that I believe that Zodiac's two bus bomb diagrams are not what they were purported to be. Each one of them, I believe, represents a stunning clue to the killer's identity. I wish to add that I solved both of them DEDUCTIVELY, not by having an answer and working backwards to a solution that suited a certain conclusion. I have the emails from 1999 to prove it for the first diagram, where I am corresponding with Ed and Ken Narlow about them. (I don't know what is still in my mailbox for the second one, which I solved over five years later.) Once I realized what they were, they changed my opinion as to Zodiac's intelligence level (and level of evil!) dramatically. If you have an open mind as to who Zodiac was, I think they will shock you, too. Zodiac was playing a much different, and infinitely more dangerous game, than anyone has ever realized.

I know that people will say that Harry Martin had a solution to the first bomb diagram. However, I will put my solution up against his anytime. I don't believe there is any comparison between the two solutions.

Also, if you think Z created a single radian angle, you may have missed one...I cover that, too.

I also reveal that the unknown male DNA from inside the gloves found in the cab belongs to...OJ. His defense team switched gloves before the trial. JK. ;)

I downloaded the preview last night and ordered it a few minutes ago. Although I've had a question or two about your suspect in the past, Mike, I'm looking forward to reading the book and the 18-plus years of research and analysis. Cover art looks great. How did the process go when it came time to find a publisher?

Hi Drew,

My agent believed in my research and conclusions so much that she published it herself, so the hunt for a publisher was easy. ;)

If you read my book with an open mind and put aside any preconceptions you may have about Z's behavioral profile, that is all I can ask.

I will be happy to read it, and look forward to messaging any questions, having been away from the case since 2006, now getting back in a bit with the recent History Channel show. I never had a favorite suspect, only a nameless person I felt watched Bates over some period of time. Previously I tried to fit Allen into Riverside. To me, Bates is the touchstone, and I was surprised and heartened to see all the work the people here put in on it. And to find this poor chap Sullivan, the lettter from the staff etc. well we will see...I came to the site seeing the bits on Sullivan and have read hours upon hours of years of tribulation on this person, posted by the persons here. He looks good. The comic book angle Tahoe brought in has me hooked, and I am reading on the era now, 50 years later...this important clue, and Sullivan's family are what I spend time on. The batwing figure you mention is, (always was), to me, two runes, corresponding to L and A...if this is what you mean by Norse culture okay, but runes are part of the whole Zodiac world of symbol systems and a person like Sullivan would have that with the other occult-like symbolic writing as part of his library life...the runes being L and A though -- this to me always pointed at Leigh Allen...though ultimately it can add nothing until we get the handwriting sorted either way...the Sullivan institutional timeline is also something I am looking into....Mike, congratulations, I have read many of your thoughtful posts here and look forward to seeing your view of the Avery card symbol in the book!

Hi Mike R,
I ordered your book today on my Kindle. I’m looking forward to some quiet time to start reading it. I’ve always found your research into Mr. X intriguing, ever since I figured out who he was, before his name was made public. Since I know a little about him, and a few people that knew him, I’ll be interested in your book. And interesting what you said about the bus bomb diagrams...I’m looking forward to that part, as I always looked at it with question?
Thank you for sharing your research!
Zincerely, Zam*
