Just throwing this out there as a while ago I put in a post about repeated patters---granted, they are left to right, but I think there is something to it when you consider this; no matter left to right, pivots, etc.

I was actually considering that thread to dump my recent nonsense in but since I suspected that the proximity to the pivots would be noted I plumped for here. I was actually gonna add a link to your thread but you doing it saves me doing it lol. Ahhhhh, the easier, softer way.

Something similar as your work in the link is on my to do list. It's very useful.

These patterns are interesting. One way to test for significance is to measure how often the same kind of patterns appear in the "shuffled" cipher text (for example, shuffling the 340 like a deck of cards), or in other normally constructed substitution ciphers. We know that your "repeated structure pattern" discovery (see http://zodiackillerciphers.com/wiki/ind ... tle=Pivots) often occurs by chance in random text, so I'm wondering if these new patterns fall into the same category.

It is the kind of programming exercise I enjoy doing and may pursue it some day. Unless someone beats me to it.
