Thank you Dave, just as I suspected! I've always said the 340 was rubbish, designed to keep police and people busy. I'm not buying this 9x9 grid solution. I've also always maintained that this 340 might contain a solve, but not this 9x9.

2017 is turning out to be an interesting year for this case, for sure.

I think it'd be interesting to try to find other solutions with the same format (words reading horizontally and vertically like a crossword puzzle). I'll bet you could squeeze even more words in, but it wouldn't necessarily mean the solution would then be correct. But it's worth a try!
