Hi Jarlve,
The good news first: I just checked the cipher again and it doesn't contain any bugs. Thus it can be solved
The less good news: As you said, I actually chose a key with more symbols than z340. I didn't pay attention here, I am sorry :(. I hope that's not the reason why it hasn't been solved.

Here is the distribution of the keys:

Largo_Sing_Along_Key_Distribution.png

Orange: Key A
White: Key B

Here are the keys (scroll all the way down, I didn't want to spoil)

Code: Select all

Key A (Orange):

AAAABBCCDDDEEEEEEEEEFGGHHHIIIIJKLLLMNNNNOOPQRRRRSSSSSTTTTTUUUVWXYZ

Key B (White):

Thank you Largo, do not worry about it.

Not unoften lyrics tend to be hard to solve plaintexts and this one is no exception. AZdecrypt has a very hard time solving the orange part, which are 12 rows @ about 0.3 multiplicity. I actually had to resort to merging the cycles to solve it. My hill climber would never have gotten it.

Could you make me another one with a non-lyric plaintext, no more than 2 cuts per key, 63 symbols and ioc similar to the 340?

Sure! I can't promise a new cipher today but I think I can create one tomorrow. But I don't know how to make sure the ioc fits. I am not that familiar with this topic.

Will make a cipher myself.

Hey Jarlve,

I've created a new cipher for you. It corresponds to your wishes, but I couldn't manage to match the z340's IOC. I hope it's useful for you, though.

Of course I know what the IOC is. But I don't know how to create a cipher that matches a specific IOC.

Thank you Largo. It ran overnight and solved. This is a proof of concept for me.

Wow, that's really cool! Congratulations!
If I may ask: The rows 5-10 and 15-20 are solved correctly, but what about rows 1-4 and 11-14? Is it possible to solve these too? This part of the cipher is a little bit smaller and therefore more difficult to solve, isn't it?

Yes. Either the solver did not run long enough or the smaller subsection has gone lost in high multiplicity.
