Hi! So I've made a little Android app called
Zodiac Crypt to help decode the 340-character cryptogram. It is basically a simple tool for symbol substitution with some features like search, checkpoints to remember promising results and export as an image to be able to share it. I've been trying to solve the puzzle myself for quite some time but didn't succeed. Hopefully the app will be helpful to anyone who tries to decode the cipher.
Google play:

Update:
Now
Zodiac Crypt lets you also solve ciphers created by other people and create your own cryptograms.

Nice app - thanks for sharing it! I like the crib searching feature. It would be useful in a general-purpose cryptogram solving app as well.

Thanks for the kind words!
Well actually I have a program with slightly more general purpose. I used it to mark up the image of the letter. If there is a cryptogram in the form of image and it needs to be marked up, the program can be of use I think. It doesn't have the checkpoint system like the android app though, but it still can save/load results and search for words. Maybe the program will help someone =)
As it is not allowed to attach .exe files, the program is put in an RAR archive.

Oh that's just sweet. I've only opened it up but it looks very cool. Will have a play around with it when I get time.
I got a java error btw so for anyone else who encounters that update your java to 1.8. It will uninstall the previous version for you in the process. All quite painless.

I'm really sorry for this, the program was originally created for my personal usage and, unlike the mobile app, was not adjusted to be seen by anybody else but me. And thank you for the solution for the error!

I have a question, guys. I had an idea of adding a "board" of some sort to the android app, where you can share your solution, view others' ones and import their solutions to develop them. But I wasn't sure it would be worth the hassle. So what do you think?

That's an interesting idea, especially if users can "upvote" the solutions they think are interesting. Then you can sort the existing solutions by how many upvotes they have. Over time, you'd have an interesting set of solutions showing up on a Top 10 list.
