That police report doesn't necessarily mean anything. That is the sort of TH nitpicking, when insisting that every word of the police reports must be taken literally and if two accounts are not identical, one should assume that one or both are incorrect.

In reality the PD probably just phoned the FBI, asked them if they took a look at what they had sent in and the feds said, "Yup. It's good." and then wrote it up in the report that the FBI and Don had both solved it.

If the FBI solved the 408, why would they not release that report along with the reports that they did release talking about what they did with the other codes? Doesn't make sense.

Duck: Yep, that's what I was getting at above.

"Independently solved" can mean both this and that - including that the FBI (simply) verified the Harden solution (as we know they did).

This source is also the proud owner of the copy of Graysmith's book, inscribed & autographed by Bettye. That's all I can or will say about it. I personally don't think that Don or his Wife Bettye were involved in the Zodiac letters or crimes, but this is certainly an interesting thread.

I think the accusations that Don and Bettye were involved in the Zodiac crimes is probably the most disgusting "theory" that I have heard. I've heard it before, I don't know if it's the same guy. The only thing that would one up it would be if someone said that Bryan was the one who stabbed Cecelia. No wonder this guy doesn't want to be named.

I heard Bryan stabbed Cecilia and then himself, once. I think that's probably not what happened.

Bettye Harden seems to have been a very bright and very troubled woman.

My usual stance when it comes to theories is that people have to be allowed to entertain 'em as long they don't pester anyone or defame anyone. That said, I don't think I'll ever understand why anyone would want to spend time on something like this, it just seems preposterous to me.

Hi-

Pretty hard to stab yourself in the back. Plus Cecelia lived long enough to have told the cops what had happened, although maybe she did and the cop didn't think it was important at the time.

Why are the Harden's off limits when it comes to this case ? They involved there selves from the get go solving the cipher and we all know LE looks at people that want to involve themselves in crimes. Get off your high horses people and if this case is going to be solved , nobody is out of the box period! Something is weird with Bettye Harden writing in Graysmith's novel she started the Zodiac and can end it and it will shock the world!

I find that statement damning and strange as heck and not to mention her cursive written even looks very similar to Zodiac's printed writing! Anyhow no stone unturned when it comes to solving this case period!

Ps. I 'm not the one that has the videos on the Harden's on You Tube or own the book Bettye wrote in. Just my two cents and we need to keep a open mind on everything!

I have no idea who has the Graysmith's book on this board that Bettye wrote in. I applauded there efforts for keeping a open mind and am curious what they find! There is some smoke there.

Ok. Why don't you please post your real name and personal info so that I can plaster it around everywhere accusing YOU of being the killer. Doesn't matter if it's true or not, right? Anything to solve the case. I know that you wouldn't have a problem with that. I'm sure that your friends, family and coworkers would understand just as well.

Hi duccking,
I understand your concerns, but it concur with Stitch Mallone's post, that we should be able to look at & discuss anyone & everyone involved in this case. That's a lot different then all of us researchers, who aren't involved in any way.
So carry on everyone & dig away, as we all want this case solved.
