I see what you mean. I will give it a shot later. I do agree it could be something simple, but without a key it could seem impossible.

Ah yes, two of those posts are mine. The "East" one (yadda yadda) and one of the others.
I like the "total tool" edit - very apropos. Thanks Tom, always classy.

T., re: "I would like to know from you pros if using a (-) is a common thing to do. The back of this card does mention using it."
I'm not a pro!
Is using a hyphen in substitution common? Well, I suppose anything in "usual punctuation" could be commonly used. This stuff ?;:-()!
Do I think the hyphen's more commonly used? Nope. Do I have stats? Nope.

BTW - isn't it funny how the different colours and the inclusions of the lines make it look as if there are two seperate and different grills in the Dick Tracy stuff, when actually there's only one. Quite clever that. (I bet it saved them some costs too, setting up the print and punch.)

I won't say anything about that editing of posts and User Names to make people look foolish but that might have something to do with why so many of the good posts there are now attributed to "Forumer Deleted User". Just sayin'...

IF this were Z's method, it's honestly hard to imagine him not enlightening someone about it eventually since the method itself would serve as effective taunting. See how stupid the blue pigs are! They can't even figure this cipher a child could make with his little cereal box decoder card.

Here's Tahoe finally solving the 340 cipher:

Has anyone tried overlaying the hole-punched postcard over one of the Z codes? Just a crazy thought.

....it's only silly if it's wrong, DaB. ;)

For those still looking for the red decoder ring, I'm genuinely sorry for pointing out that the red and green code cards have the same combination of holes, despite their different colours and designs. I'm probably wrong.
Ahem.

Entropy - that's a Game of Thrones link, isn't it? 14 minutes long? So which one's Tahoe, the one with the Dragons? That'd be nice.
I may need a decoder ring to figure it out.

The green and red decoders are indeed the same. I tried applying them on the z340, in all positions, in all rotated configurations. Here are the 3 "best" results:

It was worth trying out...

I think this idea still needs to be looked over. Maybe reviewed with the original cipher key.

I'm not sure why it is said the red and the green are the same. ?? I see a clear difference.

Here is what you get when you place a transparent red decoder on top of the green one:

The holes are in exactly the same places. Only the suggested reading directions printed on the decoders differ.

I see what you mean if you place them together that way. Probably done for mass production. But...If you lay them the way they are meant to be laid...horizontally, they bring up different results. No matter which start point from the two on each card.
