I find it strange how Kjell threatened litigation against anyone who used his name in association with anything to do with The Zodiac case. I mean seeing that he himself is fairly well known, interviewed for car magazine's and racing magazines and even the chronicle many time, I would probably expect one journalist to ask Kjell "Back in 69, the notorious Zodiac Killer struck oneb block away from your house on Jackson and was supposedly last seen about 3 or 4 houses up from your own residence, did that worry or scare you considering you have a wife and children?"
Nothing. I bet an interviewer has asked something similar and they found out quickly ask any questions relating to Zodiac, and interview is over.

Shell KA-VAH-LEE his name is pronounced, kind of like, ooo I don't know, A-VER-LY.

I find this strange too. If he handled the situation the way Mike O'Hare did, it wouldn't make him look like he has something to hide. Why would he go so out of his way to distance himself if he was innocently out walking close by that night. It should definitely be something he'd remember.

I have stated, I would be happy to send away for his social security application, if somebody that thinks he was z, would donate the $30. I don't think there is the slightest chance that he was z,but that's just my opinion. I can not, in good conscience, pay to get his ss application, when people that think he was Z don't want to get it. The guy was 50 years old in 69,sorry,I cant see it. I mentioned at Tom's site, and I will do so here too, I applaud Mike R's efforts to research X, and like Mike, I think it's quite possible that Zodiac wrote letters to the editors of papers using his real name, which is how Mike found X.

Well just to point to one oddity that I simply don't get, why is it that Kjell doesn't even appear as 'Witness A' in A.P's post crime report? Take any other Zodiac crime scene, LHR, Lake B or Blue Rock and the people that police ran into or came across near to each scene and actual witnesses to who give statements saying what they saw etc are all listed in the post crime reports......all accept one, Kjell Qvale.

What happened on Jackson then? Are we to assume the encounter went something like:

Armond: Evening Sir, have you seen anyone suspicious in the area?
Qvale: No, Sorry.
Armond: OK, thank you anyway.
Qvale. My Pleasure. Oh yes I must tell you Officer, if you make any record of seeing or speaking with me here tonight i'll sue you and sue you and sue you and then when your left with absolutely nothing, i'll sue you again a bit more so don't even list me as 'Witness A' or make any mention of seeing me because I am Kjell Qvale, the great and powerful."
Armond: As you wish, oh chosen one.

Its a serious question though, why would Qvale not wish to help the investigation even if it was to say "I *Redacted* was at the location of X X X street at 10.05pm on Oct 11 and was approached by a uniformed officer asking had I seen anyone in the area and I told him no I hadn't and I had been here in this area walking in the direction of X X X street for 3 maybe 4 minutes and have not observed any person come down the street or head toward the entrance into the Presidio via Maple."

We don't know how long Kjell was there, where he'd come from or the direction he was heading in. We don't know how long he'd been at or near Maple Intersection and cannot therefore ascertain how and/or why it is he did not see the man that Don Fouke sees at or near that area.

I'll say it again and at the risk of publically being proven wrong that if I get the FOIA back and that one name that the eight year old witness identified as possibly being responsible for cab drivers murder and the name is no longer redacted then I will say now I believe it will state "Witness identified QVALE as possibly responsible for cab drivers murder."

I mean you read any obituary about Kjell and the writer will almost always remind the reader just what a wonderful, thoughtful, kind and giving man Mr Qvale was. Always willing to help with anything if asked because he was, lets remember, a deeply thoughtful man who's just an all round genuinely wonderful soul... Untill you ask him about Zodiac, then he'll leave you having to sell your home to pay him compensation.

You dare to ask him to live up to that standard of brilliance and kindness in simply helping to answer a Zodiac related question and he'll sue you until litigation is coming out of your ears! Why such a determined effort to distance oneself from anything Zodiac if your an innocent bystander? I mean I don't care if your the richest man in the United States or a bum asking for a Dollar in some alley, if you are in the vicinity of a horrific murder and you are, as every obituary seems to tell us, a thoroughly nice and considerate person, then you wouldn't repond to being asked a question about it with "I'll see you in Court!"

And if he's a fairly well known businessman, all the more reason to be seen to be helpful and do what you can to assist investigators. Not file allegations of defamation of character against everyone who asks you a legit and innocent question.

Yes but that's my point Morf, why would he, or even why should he, assume that anyone would accuse him of being Zodiac just because he's in the general area? If anyone has a legitimate and plausible reason for being on Jackson and/or Maple it's Qvale. Can't think of many better reasons for ones presence at a certain place than "I live there."

And Morf the Maxim of Law will tell anyone that reads it that 'Equality before the Law is paramount.' It should not matter what so ever who he is in society or his social standing, monetary wealth and his abiity to start litigation against anyone who publically uses his name in direct reference to the case, even if as a witness. For a man who's described as being as generous as can be, thoughtful and the type to do what he can to help those who may need help, he doesn't seem to apply this to Paul Stine's death and all I am saying is for a man who was simply in the vicinity and who has a rock solid reason for being there he doesn't half seem to go to extraordinary length to keep his name out of the witness list.

Finally, yes I agree that officers more than likely canvased the area and didn't put each persons comments down in reports but Kjell isn't someone who's residence was visited as a matter of routine door to door enquires. He was physically spoken to by first responder on scene that night and the location where this rendezvous took place just happened to be in the same place as officers coming up Jackson would claim to see a suspect minutes, maybe even seconds after Kjell speaks to Armond.

Regardless of who you are, you cannot choose and decide for yourself if your going to be placed in a police report as a witness, or even suspect. I mean Stella Borges, imagine if she'd been taken back to Vallejo PD and interviewed about her movements and how she came upon Dave and Betty and told Lundblad "Piss off I don't want to get involved, you add me in any of these police reports and you'll be seeing me next in Court, good day." That would strike everyone as extremely odd, so why should Kjell not be viewed the same just because he has the means and abiity to pay Lawyers the big bucks to sue someone?

I don't want to spend alot of time on this, because in my own opinion, there' no way in hell that mrX was zodiac. First off, how do we know, with certainty, that MrX was the man walking his dog? That does not appear in ANY report. With all due respect to Mike R, seeing is believing, as opposed to heresay.
Also, speculation that Mr X was known by the Robbins Family prior to the Stine murder, and seems likely that the kids would have recognized him as the man at the cab.

Let's face it, MrX does not fit the typical profile of Zodiac. Most profilers that have profiled zodiac do not place him as a wealthy well to do businessman type. But one profiler in particular states that somebody like MrX could be zodiac, so are we supposed to drop what all the other profilers seem to agree upon?

Reluctantly, I am going to break down and spend $30 and get MrX's hand printed ss application. My gut feeling is it will look nothing like Zodiac's writing, but I guess we will see. Mike R asked me sometime back, if I would clear a Suspect based on one writing samples? My answer is no, but it would go a very long way to clearing him. If it looked nothing like Zodiac's, not in the least, he would get moved way down my list as a suspect. My bet is, that when I get this and post it, it will look nothing like zodiac's writing, but there will still be somebody latching onto him as a suspect, failing to see the obvious. I have been offering to get Mr X's writing for weeks now, despite him not being my suspect, and nobody has had an interest in seeing his writing. To me, that is telling, it tells me, they are not very optimistic that it will match zodiac's
