Watching the final episode of the History Channel's series, I noticed when they interviewed the head investigator of the Stine murder mentions the drop off point was supposed to be Washington and LAUREL! I see this was discussed in the forum here- Mason and Geary area. In that thread there was some debate back in 2014 about where Z had asked to go as a police bulletin apparently listed Washington and Laurel. Now to hear the investigator state that, to me it calls into question where the info of Maple came from.

Further, if it was Laurel he originally asked to be taken to, are some clues possibly not in all the wrong places as that is now 3 additional blocks away from Maple, 4 from Cherry. If the theory of Stine being shot and then driven down to Cherry is correct, this could have occurred blocks away.

The police would have immediately found his fair book, yet it seems they limited their search and canvassing to an isolated area away from Laurel for a possible witness- yet another flub? And now we have 4 blocks unaccounted for.

Any thoughts on this and how it may also relate to his assumed pick up location of Mason and Geary? Where did that information come from?

Oh ya, interesting. I guess I always assumed it was confirmed by LE also. Kind of makes you wonder what other things that are tossed around as facts may be incorrect. It also shows the murder may have happened differently than we believed, and that Z had a stronger knowledge of the Presidio neighborhood than it may have first appeared- knowing multiple street names as well as having a presumed escape route. Perhaps he did, in fact, live in the Presidio?

I think that is a huge reason why this case has not been solved, the information must be incomplete, inaccurate, or somebody has has put a great deal of effort into hiding crucial pieces of information which could solve the case...

Maple was also in Paul's log. It was either a mistake by the investigator or he was remembering the other taxi murders mentioned on the original wanted poster.

Until I see a picture of the fare book, I will hardly take Tom's word on anything Z related. It seems highly unlikely, though, that both the first crime poster and the lead investigator on the Stine case got it wrong, though I do remember hearing there was another cabbie killing near by a couple weeks earlier- what was that address?

If there is an image of the fare book available, I would love to be linked to that.

LOCUST is the address given for the other Presidio incident where the man survived and that case was investigated by the feds- confusion on the part of the investigator is looking unlikely to me, but I still would like to see the fare book.

I can understand you wanting to see it, Marie. I like to see things with my own eyes too, when possible.

With the original wanted poster mentioning Laurel, it sure makes it appear the former detective was correct. Heck, maybe Stine added in Maple after the change of plans. Would be nice to see the log book. I don't know if it has ever been shared publicly. I don't think so.
