Stine's glasses

Discussion of Zodiac Victim Paul Stine

Stine's glasses

Postby morf13 » Mon May 18, 2015 4:30 pm

Some people think Zodiac took Paul's glasses as reported. Some people think Police stated that the glasses were missing, but that they really had them to weed out any fake confessions of people claiming to have Stine's glasses, and still others think Z put them on his face when he walked from the cab.

This thread is for discussion of Stine's glasses. WARNING: Graphic crime scene pics will follow

There is no evidence to suggest Zodiac took them, any more than there is that he took Paul Stine's left shoe, sock or handkerchief. They may have been removed by medical staff to enable them to shine a light into his eyes or they fell off in the driver side footwell when he was shot. The suggestion Zodiac took them to wear them is far fetched.

Pelissetti's report (which is the only one we have) only mentions the items missing, not what items were retained (by the crime lab).

Which is the problem.

But neither glasses nor – for instance – the infamous trip sheet or fare book are mentioned as missing, that's a fact.

Of course, it may well be that they didn't know that Stine wore glasses at the time (when Pelissetti wrote his report, that is).

Again, there are relevant documents here we simply don't have.

While the glasses certainly could have been left behind somewhere, they were never documented in police reports as all of his other belongings were. http://zodiackiller.com/PSROD1.html

The fact is, they have never been acknowledged and we know there were a necessity for Paul. Paul's are unaccounted for and Zodiac was wearing glasses similar to Paul's. Certainly easy to speculate it as a possibility--especially if he thought he could be seen, or had possibly touched them...as some suggest with other personal items.

Here is a close-up long argued that he (in this position farther away) was wearing his glasses.

Yes, that's it. That's the photo used at Mike's old board to disprove that the other photo shows Stine wearing eyeglasses. Definitely a Monuments of Mars moment, for sure

Thanks Tahoe.

The ROD actually lists items such as two rings and a check book (I think).

So, yes - the glasses are conspicuously missing.

Then again, if they were on the floor of the cab rather than on his person, they might not have featured on that particular list.

Could these be the curved edges of the glasses catching the light of the flash photography. These areas appear raised and look fairly symmetrical either side and would coincide where Paul Stine's head may have been in the floor well.

Too bad we don't have a higher res scan of the last image. GIFs are about as bad as JPGs for enhancement.

Where's the documentation for Stine's watch? Is that listed somewhere?
