Actually this is NEW and has nothing to do with that thread you linked.

Paul Stine's family having addresses in the areas of the murders could have validity to the case somehow. Is it a long-shot? Probably, but it is still of interest.


Edit: Just to confirm - Carol and her husband are in the 1967 Vallejo Polk as well.

wow...the news does open some theories so long ago discounted as fringe lunatic theories..but I being more sensible wonder why carol did not divulge this info?..she had to have known....stine may not have been so random which would explain why Z left rural (relatively) and went into sfpd jurisdiction..if any of this is undeniable proven factual it would explain may be why Z took the risk in SF that he did..some family member has a skelton in the closet and has been trying to keep it contained (embarrassment) is 1 belief I have as why we are still years later striving to solve this case..unbelievable and simply comical she had not known of this years ago..i guess my response is what the hell..

There is something wrong here. I do not believe that Paul Stine's sister Carol lived in Vallejo, ever. I think TF may have stumbled upon a different Carol Stine.

This is Roy Harrison's obit from Oct. 1968. Carol's last name was Hyter and she was living in Greenville Mississippi at the time of her step-father's death.

Adding that Paul Stine's obit says that sister Carol's last name is Hyter. The obit is posted at Find A Grave. Not sure why brother Joe is not mentioned in the obit.

Thanks for the clarification Seagull. Makes sense then why she didn't mention she lived in Vallejo....phew.

Yes, I agree that TF found the correct Joe Stine living in Napa! Here is his divorce record from wife Helen. I think that the fact the middle initials of both Joe and wife Helen match in the records confirms it.

I agree. It's a legitimate thing to bring up - has to be. And it doesn't throw any suspicion on Paul's brother - it's just a link. Impossible to say if it means anything - but it's a link nonetheless.

Some people think Z may have known Stine - which we can't simply dismiss. I don't think he did myself - but I don't regard the opinion as insane. And in that context this information is clearly very relevant.

I should point out, in that thread, I mentioned that I had received his military papers and mentioned he may have been receiving mental treatment for latent homosexuality. I can not remember with certainty if Hernden was the military guy receiving treatment or not. I received, out of the blue, a military file for a Guy who was receiving treatment, but I had requested info for a lot of people. I have to go back and look to see if I can find my papers. All I know for sure is, that the Navy Guy in this photo, Robert Lee Hernden, was living in Vallejo in 1969 at

He married a woman named Beatrice in Los Angeles in 1963, and in 1964 they had a Son, Robert Lee Hernden Jr in Los Angeles. In January, 1968, they got divorced in Los Angeles. He then wound up living in Vallejo. I also want to point out, he was listed in the 1970 Vallejo directory, and NOT the 1969 Book.
