As most of you know, the parking area was not there at the time. The attack site is down to to the east.

I used Google Maps, and an actual photo of the crime scene (see bottom photo)











PLEASE NOTE: The red "x" doesn't match the EXACT spot. Of course today, the Oak Trees are no longer there,

Here is the drive up Knoxville Road from the new entrance to the parking lots. The parking lots were NOT there in 1969. Bryan and Cecelia parked above, just off the main road (Knoxville) and hiked down.

This is the main entrance now which you would use to drive down to the parking lot and also the area the ambulance would have entered (not paved in '69):

...and the next. As you make the right turn around the corner, I believe this is the area where Bryan parked his car:




As you can see in this photo, the hills on the right and left side of the road. I have marked where a car is driving and the yellow line goes to the general area I believe Bryan parked. There are only two hills on the right side like that after the main entrance, and the second hill doesn't jibe with the crime scene photo. Nothing has changed except bigger trees and "no parking".

I think the "X" is a bit off. The attack site was under the pair of trees that was probably thirty or forty feet or so away from the spot that is marked. The attack site is nearly at the north end of the north-south axis of the peninsula. Hartnell somehow got the spot wrong when he did the recreation for the Fincher people. The X is closer to that area.

I agree, the "X" isn't in the exact location--I had made a little blurb about that. But, you can see in this photo the white boxes that were placed over the footprints---just under the trees where Bryan and Cecelia were.

the tree in the last picture in the top left corner was the one zodiac hid behind at 1st?
strange little almost perfict circluar pond to the west of the site too,looks like very clear water Not a remote swimming hole ? perhaps it was not there in 69
