Lake Berryessa is puzzling

I've been thinking lately about just how different this attack is from the others.
It is elaborately staged. Z lingers. All the others are quick in and out.
Z communicates with his victims, unlike in the other couple attack for which there is a surviving witness. The rapidity of the other couple attack argues against extensive communication with the victims, and certainly against the kind of story telling he does at LB.
It is in an open, public place. The other couple attacks are in more private, secluded environments. The Stine attack also differs from the other couple attacks.
It is the only attack that takes place away from a public road or a street.
As far as I can tell, it is the only attack to take place before sunset. The car door message says 6:30 pm, and the sunset was at 6:59 pm on that day in the SF area.
Unlike his other attacks, and despite its spectacular nature, Z never claims it in a letter. He leaves a physical message at the scene of the crime (the car door message).
I am not sure what it all means, but I think it is very likely that it means something.

In a similar thread at ZK, Tom Voigt said his sources told him there were items left at crime scenes and things sent into the police afterwards that have never been released to the public, and that LB was a definite Z crime.

It is perhaps even more puzzling if it is a Z crime than if it isn't.

I'm one who has to see things with my own eyes. What things? What is "proof" it was Zodiac?
Now, had Paul been killed afterward, and Zodiac left Paul's driver's license...that would convince me.

Actually, we don't know how much communication he had with Faraday/Jansen or Stine. Just pointing that out.

Hey Tahoe. Has it ever been determined that the condoms and dirty joke book found at LB belonged to Hartnell? I've asked about this here and at Tom's site and the only answer I ever got was that they did belong to him, but it was from someone I'm not familiar with . I trust your knowledge of this case and wonder if you know.

It appears so. I'm thinking they were in his car as it was written about at the time his car was impounded.

There are apparently at least three confirmed Zodiac letters that have never been released to the public, including the DMV letter. I don't know for sure but it wouldn't surprise me if the DMV letter made reference to Berryessa, since Zodiac wrote his message on a vehicle.

I'd like to see the proof myself, but I understand that police withhold details from the public and use them to authenticate confessions and communications.
That's the trick with confidential sources. You get confirmation, but not evidence, so you have to trust the source. In the case of newspaper stories, the journalist knows the source and can make and decide if they trust them, but the newspaper reader can't. The reader has to decide if they trust the reporter's opinion of the source.
