I think so, FWIW, and maintain that is the most obvious and likely reason the cab went one block down to Cherry. He didn't want to be seen because he was far more open and exposed than at any of his previous crime scenes.
Also, as was written in another post, I once wore Rx glasses to a place I was not supposed to be in order to disguise my appearance. It's a pain, but it can be done. It was nighttime, also. Basically you have to look around the glasses. Can't describe it any better than that. And the Zodiac may have worn them only for the benefit of the children and the oncoming police car, meaning he kept his head down and wore the glasses when he saw headlights fast approaching. Thereafter, he would have taken them off.
Just a theory, although the Zodiac wearing his glasses would make simpler sense, aside from the two inescapable aforementioned issues.
