It's difficult to say where that shoe impression begins and where it ends.

For all anyone knows, this is Hartnell's shoe impression...

It's definitely over 11 that's for sure. They must have eliminated Hartnell's prints, so showing his would be meaningless.

It would be, and I'd like to think they did, but that image is from Voigt's site.

Where did he get it, what is its provenance, and why has he never noticed it's clearly not 10.5 inches?

He even writes:

Size 10 1/2 Wing Walker shoe prints were recovered from the scene, indicating a suspect weighing more than 210 pounds.

The above image is hyper-linked on the words "Wing Walker".

Prescott Auburn on Facebook just pointed me in the right direction. I take size 11 shoes or trainers and so I measured them from heel to toe and they measured 12.5 inches. It depends on the outer design of the footwear. So these 10.5 Wingwalkers could measure at least 12.

Clowns may only have size 10 feet, but their clown feet impressions measure 18 inches

And that's a nasty looking dude.

That's interesting. Let me check my shoes.

EDIT: Yes, seems to be the case. I have a pair of 10 Sketchers that barely fit. When measured with a tape, the length from tip to back heel edge is over twelve inches.

Guess we should have consulted Al Bundy for this mystery.

Yes I remember that sketch, best American comedy I reckon.

Yeah, it was heartfelt and more sincere the first few seasons, swerving into sheer, nearly-slapstick, comedy for maybe four, thanks to Jefferson, only to then painfully repeat itself.

Definitely funny as hell, though.

I think it was mentioned 10.5 somewhere else in the P.D. report and probably Graysmith's book. Let's be honest...how many of us would consider the inch size and figure it out for ourselves. ;) Morf could be the first to notice it, or it could have been brought up casually in the past, but of course we all have considered it a 10.5 shoe size.

Go to an inches conversion to shoe size. 13" is off the charts. I'm up for the clown.

Not sure how long my feet are, but I wear a size 14
