I don't recall any found money listed in the Police report from BRS. Firework Booths are the only folks that sell fireworks in California, never in a store.
The firework booths would have already been closed late at night on July the 4th. If Dee wasn't messing around with Mike, he was only one, because it
appears she was very liberal with her affections. Frankly, what on earth is a married girl with a baby, doing with some dude at 11:00 pm at a Park?
It's like a Greek Tragedy, complete with a fatal flaw.

Mageau was probably just the "Weed" boy.

I have often thought that too. Most know you don't always need money if you know someone. Or..it could be they had already given money to the go-getter, and were waiting for them to return. It doesn't (necessarily) mean that was the person who attacked them.

The main concern is who killed Dee? And the conversation she and Mike had about the killer when he first pulled in, "Do you know him?" "On never mind. Don't worry about it."
That is huge. Dee may have recognized her killer. This was a pre-meditated murder, perhaps the killer even used a silencer on his loaded .9mm gun. He brought a large hand held flashlight. Zodiac may have stalked Dee prior to the killing, just as he probably hung around after the murders to observe and enjoy. Was Zodiac a drug dealer? I doubt it.

My personal opinion amidst a sea of speculation is that Mike and Dee simply went to score a little o' the wacky. A nickel or dime bag of weed was only $5 and $10 respectively, so they didn't need to be carrying around a wad of cash. For me, the idea that they were actually looking to buy "fireworks," at some lonely, secluded lover's lane, makes no sense. Did Dee "know" her assailant? Short of a miracle breakthrough, we will simply never know.
