Why did Mike have on 3 pair of pants? I have always found this odd. I am not suggesting he was involved I just get stuck on this piece of info in the police reports.

If you go with the hypothesis that Mike and Darlene went to BRS to score some weed, Mike probably wore all those clothes to protect himself in the event that the dealers became hostile. Gang members often wear multiple layers of clothing to protect themselves from slash wounds.

Yep, it's possible they either went to score some or to sell some - that Darlene needed Mike along as "the heavy".
They didn't have either on them when discovered though. Or at least, not mentioned in the reports.

Probably not a good idea to buy weed from people who you think might slash you up!

It does make you wonder if maybe they HAD given money to that guy who pulled in first...or they were having it fronted. No money for "fireworks" either...

The only reason I ever knew of people wearing more than one pair of pants is if they just got done shoplifting, which Mike obviously didn't just do.

Did people in California in the late sixties get stabbed or beat up often buying or selling small amounts of weed? Never happens around here. Maybe coke, or meth, or something.

It's physically impossible to fight when your on weed other then fighting with you're Twinkie rapper trying to open it.

Oddly enough I think Faraday had on more than one pair of pants as well. At least I remember thinking what is it with these guys. I will probably read the police report again and see if my memory is correct.

I have personally witnessed thin men wearing multiple layers of clothing to look bulkier. In the Bay Area it is always kind of coolish, even in the Summer it can be foggy.
Kind of Dorky to do so, but they do it.
