Tahoe27 wrote:Yes, as I recently mentioned...this has bothered me too.

It was mentioned on a Vallejo FB page (on more than one occasion) by a person who was allegedly there that evening with friends and spoke with and teased David & Betty Lou ("thought they were so cute") about a half hour before they were murdered. Betty Lou's best friend at the time (Sharon) was on this FB page and questioned this person. They replied by saying "we" partied out there all the time. (This person did attend Hogan High at the time).

Sharon's brother contacted Tom Voigt about it, and Tom tried contacting this person, but never heard back. This was in June of 2013.

Zam mentioned this same scenerio here: viewtopic.php?f=96&t=1020

All I can say is, if true, we can only hope they went to law enforcement because it would be just shameful if they never did. Sharon didn't seem to know anything about it! And if true, it could be one of the other "mysterious" cars out there that evening.

I absolutely agree, 100%. If they are telling the truth and are who they say they are, and if they really are one of several people out on LHR that night that knew David and/or Betty and spoke to them in the final moments of their lives, then they should, you would think, speak to police about what they saw ad heard that night no matter how trivial and unimportant they may feel their info is. If they havn't come forward and offered their help and testimony to police so they do their best to see that the offender doesn't get away with it, then why not? I can think of two main reasons why they may not have wanted to approach police....

1) They were directly involved with the crime themselves (Highly unlikely I know)
2) They were not meeting regularly out there for Bible Study group but something a bit less legal than that. :-/

There was a property out on LHR that was used for storing/selling/growing drugs, no idea to what extent this property and those linked to it were involved in drugs and the selling of etc.

But yes, thank you for sharing that :-)

(PS. I know you refer to this person making the claim on fb as 'the person' or 'He/She, They' etc but are you deciding to be respectful and withhold this persons name, or don't you know this persons name because they won't tell you? If a person claims something to be accurate and true and is adamant that they are correct but then refuse to have their name linked with what they are disclosing, I would be highly sceptical.

I know the name, but am not posting it. They are a real person who did live in Vallejo and attended Hogan High. What I don't know is if their story is legit. It would be one thing if they didn't come forward for whatever reason when they were young, but let's hope later in life they decided to tell LE...especially if they were in a white Impala! ;)

If this was 1969, I'd understand someone not wanting to say something or give statements to LE for fear that their name will be next to appear on 'His' little list. But now, 45 years on from the incident? I wouldn't think they could e concerned that Zodiac will be 'reactivated' with a new mission to kill this person talking too much, if he can get someone to have a getaway wheelchair waiting outside ready as he attempts to escape from the Maximum Security Centre for Frail and co-depedant Pensioners lol.

Morally, coming forward is the right thing to do. I mean let's say for a second that they avnt come forward because they go out to LHR to smoke some cigarettes of the herbal variety, are the police likely to give a sh*t about a few joints of weed when you may have info regarding a serial killer, and not just any serial killer, but a crack-proof one!

They had no problem posting this tidbit on a public forum. I have to believe they went to police. At least I hope so.

If this group were out on LHR that night though, shouldn't we expect at the very least, one of the many witnesses driving that stretch that night to report seeing a 'Group' or 'Bunch' of teenagers lurking around? Borges, Owen, the hunters, or any of the many other people who freely admit to being in that vicinity on the night in question? They make no such observations about a group of teens that show up in any report or in any witness statement, at least not that I can recall of hand anyway.

Others did come forward being in the area around 10:30...and there were other cars seen. Could have just been luck the kids were in their cars at the time others drove by. http://www.zodiackiller.com/LHRPR52.html

"Could have just been luck the kids were in their cars at the time others drove by." Yes I know there was reports of the odd car here and there but those reports are mainly regarding some car that drove passed someone over here, or a red pick up truck parked off the road and in the field over there etc. Owen claims as he was approaching the scene he remembers passing a vehicle going in the opposite direction (Toward Valljo) and that this is seconds before he drives past the trun in gated area where he observes Two stationary vehicles in the gated entrance to the Pumping Station. So, if James is telling the truth then there should have been others who drove by as Zodiac was actually at the scene and yet, these haven't come forward either.

Wasn't there a place on LHR where the kids went to party on the weekends? I'm sure i've read such a thing. Perhaps it was from Graysmith? So, might not be true but if there was such a place, maybe they had talked about going out there. If they did go to this 'hang out' then i can't recall any witnesses coming forward with that info. Also, they told parents a fib, can't be sure David was being completely with his sister, either! One thing thats always stuck out to me was that they missed their curfew. I didn't know these kids, so i have no idea exactly what kinda kids they were. However, everything i've read makes me think they were pretty good kids. You'd think they wouldn't want to upset the parents on a first date with breaking curfew. So, i've often wondered if the crime happened sooner than we think or if they were 'held' for a bit. If all the witnesses in the area are to be believed, it doesn't seem like that happened though.

Could you guys link the Vallejo fb page? Also, I could have sworn I have seen a picture of Betty that was in black in white facing the opposite direction. Maybe the color photograph is reversed. Back to your point concerning the other teenagers, David might have told his sister that so it wouldn't look like he was going to LH with just a girl. Maybe he didn't want to make his sister think that he was going there just to make out. Didn't he also tell his parents that he was going to a Christmas Dance or something along those lines?

I thought the photo wasa reverse negative possibly myself. If you look at it closely, you can see another photo os the Rambler that somehow superimpsed onto the picture of Betty
