This is a picture of Gerald's brother, Ron. If you ask me he bears a lot of resemblance to the Zodiac sketches from the Paul Stine murder - especially the small eyes. He lived in Hawaii for a while and was in the US Air Force. Not sure if he was ever stationed in Northern California.

Sorry, but I don't see any resemblance at all to the composite drawing. That cleft chin would have been something a witness would not have left out.

I wish there was an update on this letter. I think this is an interesting lead.

Anyone have any idea what their relationship was like? I would also think that if he wrote this letter, Gerald would have recognized the handwriting.

I really think the angle with the Lilienthal family needs to be looked at further, so I did a little preliminary digging. Seems as though the couple we are talking about is Robert P. Lilienthal (DOB: 06/25/1913) and his wife was Frances. Something interesting I found was that prior to them living at, or simply owning, the address across from the playground, they reported lived at 222 Cherry Street, which is at the corner of Washington. From what I could find, beginning in 1948, he lived at 1 Spruce Street which is across from 2 Spruce. Children are Jim (DOB 9/9/1941) and Peter (DOB 9/16/1946) and sibling is a Theodore (DOB 1912). Brother Theodore's Son is Tom Lilienthal (DOB: 6/6/1947).
Here are some family photos

And of course, Mr. Felchlin who IMO, bears a resemblance to both SF and LB sketches, but too old IMO as he was born in 1919:

The address wasn't at the corner of Washington and Cherry. It was on Cherry, just past Washington, in opposite direction the Zodiac ran.
Hanging on specifics. Not knocking the Lillienthals. I'm into them as well.

I know, and should have specified that. Point being, they had been in the neighborhood for a very long time showing a possible intimate angle to the vicinity.
