One tiny match with the skin/hair under CJB's fingernails should be enough for life without parole. State of California carried out capital punishment until 1972, so this might be an option, too.

Hi Jacob,
It might be worthwhile to point out something I thought of during the first week of July 1999. I give the date because this was just about a week after I first saw KQ's name and I knew very little about him, so my ideas had absolutely nothing to do with tailoring my views to fit my suspect.
Zodiac referenced Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado. They were two people who worked towards the same goal, one making the music and one writing the lyrics. I am sure you can see the possible analogy to the Z case. From that day on I have always considered what is "crime scene evidence" and what it "letter evidence" because if this odd case has a killer and a letter writer who worked with the killer and through whom the killer spoke, then DNA, handwriting and other evidence from the letters may be very misleading. In my book, I discuss how profiler Richard Walter feels that the way you solve a case is to develop a profile of the killer based on his actions at his crime scenes (ignoring the letters) and then find someone who fits the killer's profile. That is what I did and that is why he endorsed my solution to the case in the 2010 book The Murder Room.

I reiterate, There is a tang of the Vietnam war or Vietnam in general regarding LE endeavours to find the Zodiac. Would not be surprised if the Zodiac lived or is living in Vietnam either.
Source? the Sauciest.

So this thread launched in 2017. Is it safe to say there isn’t any breaking DNA news on the horizon?

YES if you refer to police work, which we cannot have any idea about it - as they have other cases and can't speak about such developments unless they find Z.
NO if you see the developments in genetic genealogy, leading to arrests almost on a weekly basis.
But I agree that I'd love to see some smudge from Riverside's Timex watch to be analyzed..

I agree QT, My guess is that the killers DNA as well as CJB and perhaps Johnny Swindle's, will be found on that watch.
With the newer touch DNA , CJB's blouse or sweater, should have the killers DNA on it. If the tiny Bible that was put in my car in Napa belonged to her, then the killer had to have gone into her purse to get it, his DNA will be inside of her straw purse. She is the only Catholic victim that I know of?
I don't understand why the blood, skin and hair found in her hand is not a good source for the killers DNA?

If rumors are true and Nancy Bennallack is a Zodiac victim then Sacramento County Sheriff's Office has a complete DNA profile (blood) of the killer.
If they have actually done anything with that DNA is unknown.
That's why I believe that if there is a break in the Zodiac case regarding, it will come from Sacramento, not San Fran or Vallejo.

The same county that pioneered genetic genealogy to finally catch EARONS. I have faith in them.

Does anybody have any idea who is in charge of the Bennelack investigation? As most of you know I jave a complete autosomal profile of my POI, and I'd like to get it into the right hands in Sacramento. I submitted it on the website, but I have no confirmation that anybody got it.

Call and ask to talk to a cold case detective, their websites are useless unless you fill out a report on their tip line. Once you get a name, get their email address and then send your information. Once you give them your information , don't hold your breath for them to contact you. You have to have very good evidence for them to listen to anything you have to say. They have heard it all before from 100's of people who think they have solved the case.
