Firstly, thank you Mike for this site; it’s well laid out and contains a wealth of information. Compared to other forum sites dedicated to this topic, it appears yours is an inclusive and congenial one for those interested in learning more about this topic. It’s also a good place to have discussions with, and access to, the most knowledgeable and talented people working on this puzzle.
Although I must have heard of this case prior to my recent deep interest in everything “Zodiac”, likely through pop culture references, I have not seen any documentaries, fictional movies based on this case, nor have I read any books related to this topic. I began this recent journey as a complete newbie; I still consider myself only familiar with what is known and even less familiar with what is being discussed as being “known” (quotes being my polite way of saying what I’d characterize as at best supposition or worst as gibberish).
At first, I did not deeply dive into the ocean of explanations for various details related to this case but rather looked through the evidence that is available and see if I can draw some new conclusions based on my own biases, which I’m sure are many. Recently, I have been a lurker here at this forum, as well as others, to gain a more in-depth understanding of the various ideas that have been explored. I have some ideas to share that I don’t think have been explored much or at all, which I hope to share soon in their currently immature form for comment and dissection.
My initial interest in the Zodiac case sprouted from discussions about a deceased family member and the possibility he’s a POI in this case. Now, the culmination of these discussions, potential circumstantial evidence related to him, statements attributed him and a medical professional treating him, his arrest records, as well as some personal effects, have leaded me to suspect him as my POI in the Zodiac killings. Additionally, my POI might be linked to another group of serial killings, as of yet unlinked to Z. Until I have more details to share that make sense and are substantiatable, I’ll try to keep all my POI interest separate from other insights which might be of more general interest.
I’m a molecular biologist by training as well as professional laboratory scientist. In addition to posting ideas outside my expertise for the forums consideration, I hope to contribute to and elevate in general, discussions within my subject matter of expertise.
