Hi, I'm Josh, a middle-aged native Californian, interested in unsolved murders in California.
I guess I don't like to talk much about myself...

Welcome.

Josh I think its only fair to warn you, if you continue on and start researching this case, you are at risk of being bitten by the Zodiac bug like the rest of us. If and when that happens, you'll end up addicted to the case like most of us here. Take me, for example. I freely admit that my level of addiction means I must come here to this site at least 3 times a week for 'My Fix'. Take ZodiacKillerSite.com member 'Smithy'. His addiction has now got to the advanced stages and he must sign in every 20 minutes or he'll stopp being able to function.

But welcome :-)

Welcome Josh,
How did you become interested in the Z? And what does n00b mean?

Zincerely, Zam*

Zam - I'm a detective, and I think it means "newbie".
Alex - I've never signed out. ;)

Smithy we will all end up at that stage somewhere down the line. You never log out then? What if there was a power cut, or you laptop crashed? I only ask because my laptop battery died early this year and I didn't have internet access. I ran into Curry's, dressed in full Zodiac Berryessa costume, grabbed a laptop, and ran out. I'm surpprised you didn't hear about it Smithy as it was on the 6 O'clock news. I was being filmed by police helicopter running down the M4 Motorway with a box hood on my head. It was front page headlines also next day: "Police taser Psychotic Welsh Man with breakfast cereal box on his head". I mean what is this World coming to when you can't even steal a laptop dressed as Zodiac without being tasered by police?

I do like the idea of the new members coming here now to introduce themselves and coming across this lol. I didn't really steal a laptop from Curry's while dressed up as Zodiac! I'm not that stupid! It was PC World not Curry's!

Yes, "n00b" is newbie. Sometimes "noob" if you're not into the mixed alpha-numeric thing.

Yes, I'm aware of how all-life consuming these interests can become, but thanks for the warning ;)
I have plenty of other online "interests" that serve as constant distractions to mundane things like work and paying bills.

As for my history, I grew-up in Southern California and was about 10 when Richard Ramirez was on the loose and that always stuck with me. Now, in Northern California, as part of my daily commute, I drive by San Quentin twice a day, so always curious about the untold stories contained in those walls (including those of my 10 year old nightmare, RR). With 2 young children, I also find myself trying to dig deeper into Bay Area crime statistics and perhaps, due to my vintage tastes, always end up looking at the 70-80s.

At this point, I'm not interested in Z, specifically, but putting together an overall picture of the serials and unsolved homicides in Northern California during the 70-80s.
Indeed, Z is an extremely interesting case, with tons of clues and evidence to pour over for a lifetime. To that end, I've so far observed that the Zodiac researchers, such as yourselves, are much more scholarly, organized, thoughtful and objective than other similar groups I've interacted with. So I hope to learn from your rigor and perspective and gain some insight and information that I've been lacking in my own investigative pursuits.
