Just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself.
Detective Terry Poyser with the Vallejo Police Department, Investigations Bureau, Major Crimes.
I am the current Detective assigned to the Zodiac Case.

I have been talking with Mike for several weeks now and he suggested I post up with a brief greeting.
A little about myself, Napa County native and have been with the Vallejo PD for over twenty years. I have been very familiar with the Zodiac case since my teens and have been able to actively follow the “ups and downs” of the investigation throughout my career. I was assigned the case a few months ago and have been checking the case files and attempting to inventory the evidence, or determine which agencies have what in relation to our homicide at Blue Rock Springs in 1969. I will be touching bases with the other Detectives with Napa SO, SFPD, Solano SO, DOJ, FBI, etc…in the next few months.

I have a full case load of current sex crimes and murders, so the Zodiac case is really something to be worked on a few hours a month, or in my spare time. I will try to follow up on leads related to our homicide, but please understand that our city has 20-25 murders each year, with eight Detectives to work all violent crimes. So, Zodiac is way, way down on priority.

However, if you have some information you think would be of assistance in the VPD murder, run it by Mike on the forum and he will forward it on to me. You can always snail mail me, but at this time I would prefer to keep my department email and phone line clear for current and active investigations.

Terry, glad to have you here! As I've told you, it's refreshing to speak to somebody investigating this case that is enthusiastic about doing so. I hope that if time permits,you may be able to answer some questions about the case that have never clearly been answered (assuming they won't jeopardize your investigation). Looking forward to hearing your take on stuff, and to talking to you more.

As others have already stated, it's a treat to have you here, and knowing that while there are many cases that are higher priority at the time, that you still are doing what you can on this cold case that has baffled many many people over the years. Great to see someone working the case on this board – really a treat.

I'm sure we all understand that you're busy on (many) other fronts, but I hope you can find the time to post every now and then – I'm sure there are plenty of things you can clear up for us regarding the evidence in the case.

I hope members here, should you decide to contact Detective Poyser, do so with diligence and brevity when at all possible. I have seen the files of another detective and ONE person gave him a report that was about 500 pages. Most investigators have an obligation to read over materials you provide so it would be worthwhile to your cause to get to the fine points of your case...at least in the beginning. If there is any merit to what you share, they will take it the next step further.

Terry, these are questions that I have, not sure you can or will answer them, but I have researched and can not find the answer:

1) Have any prints (finger,palm,etc) from any of the crimes in various jurisdictions(Vallejo,SF,NAPA,etc)been compared to one another, and if they have, has their been any matches to each other?

2)Riverside PD has print & DNA evidence in the Cheri Jo Bates case. Do you know if it has been compared against prints & DNA in the Zodiac case? My theory is that it has, and there was no match, which is why Riverside has steadily repeated it's stance that Cheri was not killed by Zodiac.(I think this is also likely, that Zodiac didn't kill Cheri, but merely wrote the letters & desktop poem in her case,hence no DNA or print match)

3)Since the CA DOJ is no longer handling any of the Z case(besides lab & print work from what I hear),who has all of the Zodiac stuff that they had? I am curious who is in possession of the Riverside Desktop poem which was linked to Zodiac?

Again, I understand that there are things you are unable to answer due to the investigation, so if you can not comment on these questions,I understand.
