Re: Vallejo PD
Mike
Not sure about the print comparisons, but will know more over the next few months after meeting with the other Detectives assigned to the Z case with other jurisdictions.
As for evidence, I know we have the Vallejo letters and envelopes, as well as clothing and items from the BRS shooting. We also have seven 9mm cases and seven slugs in various types of condition. Much of the evidence is stored with SFPD. It will take me some time to determine what is there in SF, and what is here. I still need to uncrate our stuff and see what is there besides the BRS evidence, such as items taken from ALA during the search of his home. Today I tried to find crime scene photos on my lunch hour, with negative results. Then I went back to my normal case load….
I will find out more over the summer and hope to be able to fill you in. I appreciate all the hard work from the researchers over the years on this case. However, for Vallejo, my case falls on simple physical evidence from the scene, not code theories. We have a ton of stuff mailed in over the years with family photos, letters (handwriting samples), cryptography sleuths info, etc. etc. etc.
As this is a side detail, I will try to keep at it and am interested in the case as much as anyone, but it will take some baby steps on my part to go over what has been done, and what can be done with modern case investigation techniques. A lot of questions will be answered once I meet up with the guys/gals working the case with other agencies such as Napa SO, SFPD, FBI….
