Mike

Not sure about the print comparisons, but will know more over the next few months after meeting with the other Detectives assigned to the Z case with other jurisdictions.

As for evidence, I know we have the Vallejo letters and envelopes, as well as clothing and items from the BRS shooting. We also have seven 9mm cases and seven slugs in various types of condition. Much of the evidence is stored with SFPD. It will take me some time to determine what is there in SF, and what is here. I still need to uncrate our stuff and see what is there besides the BRS evidence, such as items taken from ALA during the search of his home. Today I tried to find crime scene photos on my lunch hour, with negative results. Then I went back to my normal case load….

I will find out more over the summer and hope to be able to fill you in. I appreciate all the hard work from the researchers over the years on this case. However, for Vallejo, my case falls on simple physical evidence from the scene, not code theories. We have a ton of stuff mailed in over the years with family photos, letters (handwriting samples), cryptography sleuths info, etc. etc. etc.

As this is a side detail, I will try to keep at it and am interested in the case as much as anyone, but it will take some baby steps on my part to go over what has been done, and what can be done with modern case investigation techniques. A lot of questions will be answered once I meet up with the guys/gals working the case with other agencies such as Napa SO, SFPD, FBI….

How very interesting and good to know a co-ordinated approach is being used to gather all evidence. It would be most interesting to also gather, if possible, a list of all those poi's who were named and cleared by LE and re-examine them or run whatever prints are available again with the databases now available.

Hopefully you will be able to read the DMV letter so much has been made of and hinted about.

Thanks for all your efforts on this and all your other cases.

Thanks Terry. Gotta be cool looking thru all that stuff knowing there may be something in there that could break the case wide open. And in a way, you're actually handling some of the biggest pieces of evidence in the history of American crime.

I also agree 100%, that you need solid physical evidence to solve this case, DNA,prints,Ballistics, etc

Curious to know more about the letters, but wasn't there only one from Zodiac mailed to Vallejo? I would be nice to know it was still in Vallejo's hands--SF seems to have some things MIA.

a new thread needs to be formed.. questions and answers.
Team Terry maybe?
so as not to be overwhelmed only one or two questions at any one time. im sure many here could rattle of a dozen in a heart beat.
probably in the private section?
maybe questions sanctioned by a mod so as to give it some structure, keeping out the BS..we don't want to scare terry off with some ahhh posters.
cheers

Welcome Detective Poyser, What a nice surprise to have someone who can actually help with some closure in this solvable case.
I was a waitress at three of the most popular clubs in Vallejo during the Zodiac crime spree. I knew both George Bawart , Steve Baldino and dated Buzz Gordon for a few yrs, so VPD has a special place in my heart.

You mentioned having some Zodiac Letters and envelopes , I am wondering if there could be some DNA under those stamps, or on the flaps of the envelopes that hasn't been tested ?
Even perhaps some touch DNA on the letters ?

As you probably know already SFPD has only the partial DNA of Zodiac.
Now that there has been so much advancement in DNA , there is "Witness DNA " which can show if the perp is Hispanic ,African American , Irish etc, even gives the eye color !

That would certainly help with eliminating the many suspects that keep showing up almost monthly .
I am pretty sure that you are aware of that, so I feel sort of silly even mentioning it, but if not check it out when you have time.
Again it is a pleasure to have you here, looking forward to anything you can share !
