I'm excited to be able to discuss with everyone !

Postby telp » Tue Sep 23, 2014 8:56 pm

As the title says, I'm excited to be able to discuss with everyone. I've been lurking these forums for about 6 months now and I am excited to finally get to share my thoughts and feelings with everyone. I first became interested in the Zodiac after an album cover by a musician I listen to had written on it a message written in the Z408 code. Since then I have learned a lot from all of you about this case and I'm happy to finally be a part of this community. :D

That would be Spaghetti Incident I presume. Doranchak posted that on his site which is the only reason I know that lol. http://www.zodiackillerciphers.com/?p=534 and I listen to GNR. Don't have that album though - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :D

Welcome aboard telp.

Actually I was unaware of the GNR album cover. This is from Giles Corey. The album title is from another unsolved murder at Hinterkaifeck. Thanks for the warm welcome Trav.

That album is horrible, which is probably why you don't own it.

Interesting album cover!

Here's a transcription of its cipher:

And if you can't figure out the plain text, here's a spoiler.

Hold on now, GNR is my all time favorite band, and while the Spaghetti Incident is not their best by any stretch, they do have some good covers on it. Come on, how about Down on the Farm & Black Leather? And they do awesome covers of Hair of the Dog, and I don't care about you. It's their ode to punk rock pretty much. An odd thing is that they never added a cover of a Stones song, as they were pretty big Stones fans, and covered them a lot in their early demos. They did do a nice version of Sympathy for the Devil on the Interview With a Vampire soundtrack, but that's a whole separate discussion ;) Oddly enough, I never noticed the Zodiac stuff as it relates to GNR until Doranchak's mention, of course, I have not cracked the CD open in years due to my ipod. On a semi-related Zodiac discussion involving GNR, they did a cover of Charles Manson's, Look at your Game on The Spaghetti Incident as well, but fearing blow-back, they did not list it on the cover, but it's there, it's after the very last listed song if memory serves

By the way, WELCOME TELP :!: Sorry for the delay in activating you

Honestly, I think GNR is over rated. How they got into the Rock -N- Roll Hall of Fame baffles me. They had one really really good album (Appetite for Destruction) and then the Use Your Illusions albums were ok, but the rest of their stuff sucked. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Slash and Duff, but Axl's voice is terrible and the guy is a major d-bag.

Axl is a major D-Bag for sure, but he was a killer frontman, and that scratchy voice is awesome. They owned the MTV airwaves from 1988 to 1991. They were awesome in concert, I have a ton of their live stuff, and dozens of Demos, etc. If they had stayed together longer who knows what they would have achived. AFD is one of the best albums ever made, hands down. Welcome to the Jungle, it speaks for itself, and you will never go to a NFL game again without hearing it. Sweet Child O Mine, one of the greatest rock Ballads ever(although I actually prefer Don't Cry) The original 5 Guys were tremendous as a unit, not a fan of them separately as much, but Slash is Slash, tremendous Guitar player. Illusions was not as good, as AFD, but then again, when you start off with an album like that, it can only go downhill. Lies really showed their talents acoustically, in a whole new light.
I actually like some of the new stuff, with the new band, although Axl should not be calling it GNR. I am still hoping for a miracle of a reunited original GNR lineup, of course, Axl is too much of a D-Bag to likely do it, but imagine the money they could make. I heard they were offered like $5 million bucks a few years ago to do the super bowl halftime show. In a way, I'm glad that they split up early on top, I compare it to James Dean dying, young, hip, cool, as opposed to getting old, fat, bald, and eventually doing bad movies. Some stars or meant to burn bright, but only for a short while.

Sorry Telp, I had to get the GNR stuff out of my system :? Carry on, and again, welcome aboard :)
