Hello everyone. I am a hobbyist computer programmer(I make video games/iphone apps etc for fun) of a number of years. Back in around 2007 after seeing the zodiac movie I started to play around with the 340 cipher using brute force and genetic algorithm programming. I gave up on it, and came across this site by chance and it sparked my interest again. I have always been interested in the minds of serial killers, from the psychological aspect of what draws a person to devalue human life in general like that... Zodiac remains at the top for me, not because he hasn't been caught or identified, but because of how open he was playing games with the murders in public en mass.

Hi vertigo & welcome,
always nice to have a new poster who's dappled in researching/solving the case. And yes Zodiac is a lot of our obsessions.

Zincerely, Zam*

Welcome Vertigo.

It's good to have another cipher refugee. Say what you will about Fincher's movie but it certainly has brought the case to a lot of people's attention. I constantly forget that there are many many people who don't know of this case. I assume everyone's heard of it but then I hadn't until I watched "Exorcist 3" and even then I had to check if there had been a serial killer called Zodiac. Anywho, nice intro and welcome aboard.

Greetings Vertigo. It's always good to get a fresh mind on the case. "Salutations"reminds me of the Spider Charlotte from Charlotte's Web.

Welcome, Vertigo! You'll encounter an abundance of cryptanalysts at this site. I've tried to sic 'em on the Beale Cipher, but no luck. :D

Such a warm welcome, thanks guys! It is such a breath of fresh air to know that other people are legitimately interested in the topic. I recall years ago when I was carrying around a history of secret societies by arkon daraul trying to learn more about zodiac as I believe he held that book in high regards. My friends, coworkers and ex-girlfriend all thought I was some weirdo with that stuff and symbols scratched on notepads. I honestly had no one to talk to about it. The few sites or groups that I did find seemed to be full of people completely lost on the subject. The idea of intelligent discourse seemed so far gone.

Ha! That certainly would prove to be more profitable if solved, from a monetary standpoint anyways :)

The Beale Ciphers are 100% hoax, that's why I don't bother with them. :ugeek:

Welcome, vertigo, from a fellow programmer!
