Revisionist history.

No mention of this back in 2014:
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/zodiack ... 2-s20.html

Feb. 2014,
"His height and weight are of interest to me now. Maybe someone can snag DMV records."
"Well, according to the informant report, Sullivan was checked out and had an alibi."
"I believe the Napa County SD also looked at Ross."

But now, Napa knew about Ross, remembered him 30 years later in 1998, and had verified he was in a mental institution on the exact date of a Z crime.

Maybe Napa was thinking of this suspect, who was in Napa State Hospital, and looked into:
http://www.zodiackiller.com/LBReport14.html

No one even new if Ross was ever in Nor Cal until Morf dug up info on him around 2014.
Now, "If memory serves, it turned out Ross was in a mental facility on Sept. 27, 1969."
If Ross was in Napa State Hospital, that just adds to evidence. Puts him right there at the time.

But unfortunately this does not eliminate Ross as Z. You see, LB was not actually Z, but a copy-cat.
Actually a copy-cat of a copy-cat...

I used to think LB was Z, but have been schooled on this error numerous times. ;)

Sorry, but it's true.

Always open to any documents that backs it up.

This also wasn't mentioned 1 year ago, then claimed fingerprints:

In 1998 I was told by the Napa County Undersheriff that Sullivan had been ruled out. I believe he said it was via fingerprints. Perhaps Toschi got them compared afterall. Maybe not.

As it stands, there are two possibilities.

1) Napa had no knowledge of Ross, as mentioned by Morf here:
http://www.zodiackillersite.com/viewtop ... &start=310

2) Napa dug into, and cleared a vague person from Riverside, a decade before Dave Peterson put him on the Radar, and RPD seemed to blow off in 1966.

Feels like a stretch.

Well, there's also a third possibility:

*Riverside and Napa County were discussing their unsolved cases in October 1969 (verifiable factoid)
*Sullivan's name came up because of the suspicious librarians
*Napa County checked him out in relation to their homicide of September 1969
*He had an alibi
*The under sheriff told me about it in 1998 when I asked about a name that had been hand written on a copy of a police report I had
*I wrote off Ross and put him out of my mind...
*...until I started putting my podcast together late last year and closely reviewed my 1998 materials

That's all speculation, and there is nothing wrong with that. It's just all hear say.

I'm just trying to clarify, because it went from:

"I believe the Napa County SD also looked at Ross."
to
"I believe he said it was via fingerprints"
to
"If memory serves, it turned out Ross was in a mental facility "

Now it's notes?

Wouldn't that make the "memory serves," read better as "according to my notes" ?

Unrelated, Jon Sullivan said Ross was locked up mental facility, but there is evidence that happened after 1970.

Why wouldn't Ross be listed as cleared at Napa? Wouldn't Napa document that for future investigators?
If they put the time in to clear him, least they could do is list him on the suspects cleared list...

How many times do I need to explain that Ross was not on my mind for almost two decades until I started doing podcasts late last year and I finally focused on my 1998 materials?

So this is a memory? Or a physical note from 1998?

A day ago you wrote:
"My memory about 1998 is better today as I've been going over all of my old materials for my podcasts etc."

This would imply, a memory.
