Whoever killed her mailed in a confession and described details no one else would know. Then mailed multiple cards that were very similar to Zodiac cards.

Much energy and valuable time has been wasted in proving--or disproving--whether Zodiac killed Cheri Bates. Her murder, vicious as it was, deserves solving apart from any Zodiac connection. IMO, the correlations between her murder and Zodiac's subsequent rampage are too close to be ignored; but, then, I'm an ardent exponent of Occam's Razor.
Again IMO, we'd be better off concentrating on Cheri's murder. There is an abundance of evidence available, even without RPD's help, which has been virtually non-existent. Question: is there an agency one could present such evidence to, or does RPD have that route blocked?

"Details no one else would know"? That's a pretty bold claim.
What exactly were these details available only to the killer that were not in this letter?

Indeed, if anything, it seems the letter writer far more stuff wrong (like only two stabs wounds) than right.

Yeah, the confession letter included details all available in the local papers. No reason that whomever wrote it was her killer

I could’ve missed it, but I don’t recall seeing an article that mentioned him breaking the knife. Again, could’ve missed it.

That was only something the killer said. There was nothing found, as far as a knife, and nothing broken off in Cheri.

If dna proves ross then great..if not i hope it leads to the person responsible for her untimely and cruel death.......i dunno if ross is the z..like all of em some things look great and other things are like trying to get my cat to fetch my slippers....i still believe z was in riverside though so the ross as z holds interest

Thanks for clarifying that!

actually, why do you think they found a males blood/DNA dripped on her pants. he probably did break his knife, cut his hand. otherwise why would a hoaxter make that up.

I don't think the knife would have to break for it to slip and cut his hand. That's not to say it didn't actually break as it certainly could have. I was just reiterating no broken knife was found and there were no broken pieces in Cheri, so, it wasn't a part of the proof the letter writer killed her.
