Tim Sullivan

Postby Seagull » Fri Aug 28, 2015 6:46 pm

Today I received Tim Sullivan's marriage license. I was very surprised to learn that the witness to the marriage was a man from Napa. Patrick T Kane was born in 1921 and obviously much older than either the bride or groom. He is no longer living, having died in 1983. Lots of speculation could be made of this revelation.

Here is the license-

Here is a record for the witness giving his name with the same address that is on the license-

Here is the CA death record for the witness-

What I'm finding on the Napa end is that a Katherine Kane was listed in the Napa Polk's Directory, where I began my search, at that 3648 Linda Vista address from 1966 until 1979 when there are no more of the directories available on line. Looking at her California Death Index Record, her maiden name is Fosse, the same as Patrick T Kane's mother's maiden name. He must have used his mother's address as his permanent address. Patrick is not listed in any of the Napa directories that I looked at. So a San Francisco address does not seem out of the question for Patrick.

If you notice it was Bonnie that had a San Francisco address and Tim had a Riverside address on the license.

Can we do a reverse look up for 5599 Corwin Dr. Riverside, Ca to see who lived there in 1966?

Also, they got married at City Hall, isn't it likely that they eloped and the witness worked there?

If we could find a 66 Polks that lists him, it may have his job listed

After doing an enormous amount of research on Patrick T Kane, the witness, I think that JeffP nailed it with thinking that Kane worked at city hall. It turns out that Kane was a court reporter and very likely was in the right place at the right time to have witnessed the marriage.

As for the 5599 Corwin address, I cannot find any online directories for the address. Ancestry's directories for Riverside only go up to 1955 and that street didn't exist then. The Riverside County Recorder's office online records go back to 1980, way too late to find out anything definite. I was able to find the parcel number for the property and that didn't do me any good either.
