Knowing now that Timothy was living in San Francisco in 1969 (in Haight-Ashbury area), I think it's probable that Jon probably knew very little. It was likely Timothy who knew everything, given that it was Timothy who stayed behind in Riverside until summer/fall 1966. It was Tim who knew Cheri. By then Jon was going to college in Stockton, CA, where he began in 1963.
It was Timothy who lived in San Francisco in the summer of 1969. Many mental health patients were released from the hospitals on or before June 30, 1969 due to that law going into effect on July 1. We know Ross was arrested in LA County some time in July 1969, according to Dave Peterson's notes. It is possible that Ross stayed with Tim after that, as he likely had no where else to live then while authorities were figuring out what to do with him. By then Jon lived in Minnesota and would not return to Berkeley until 1975 or 1976.
Remember that Katz said Ross lived in Santa Cruz and San Fran. This would explain why Timothy thought Ross was the killer and Jon doesn't.
Perhaps we should search for people who lived in the Haight in 1969 and ask if any of them might have known Ross. We got some hits when we searched Ross' Santa Cruz address, perhaps we should do similar searches for Tim's San Fran address or look at nearby spots that were popular in summer of 69.

I had posted months ago when I first joined the forum, that this caper was going to be linked to Haight-Ashby scene. I knew it all along.

It would have been nice if "speculation" had been spelled correctly, but you get the point.
Imagination, speculation, opinion and conjecture are great, provided they are used to make leaps from existing facts to new facts to add to the body of evidence. They can generate useful questions that can sometimes lead to new information.
But too often they are used as substitutes for facts and evidence, or people linger in imagination too long without producing some sort of useful piece of evidence.

I had an idea that the Zodiac might be in films of Haight-Ashby, Golden Gate Park concert, and events such as these. He loved attention and would try to get on camera if he could. It would be nice to have a picture of him from Haight-Ashby.

Do we know that for sure? We have this potential match but it could be the wrong Tim.

Was there another source placing him in that area?

It's definitely worth looking into. We know Bonnie married that summer in Bay Area. Didn't she and Tim have children? Wasn't that the reason they got married in first place? So if they split around this time, possible Tim moved back to San Fran for sake of children. He and his friends were known to be hippies. Living in Haight-Ashbury is something I can see Tim doing in summer of 69.
We know there's a Tim Sullivan listed. It could be someone else. But we should definitely look into this.

I agree. Looking into it and proving it as fact should be done before we say it is so.
Look, the thing that bothers me is Ross is Jon's BROTHER. Anyone who has siblings (they actually get along with) should understand and maybe, just maybe show some compassion. This mans DEAD brother has been thrust upon him as possibly being a serial killer and those from a message board (weirdos to Jon no doubt) want his DNA top prove/disprove these (crazy to him) accusations.
Any of you want DNA convince LE--not us and by all means, refrain from personal attacks on Ross' family members.

In all fairness, the People 1st suspicious of Ross being a killer are the RCC Library staff. We started looking into Ross to see if he could be Cheri's killer and/or Z, and what we uncovered so far, simply made him worth looking closer at,

Yes, but Jon has recently become aware and Ross has become like chum in an ocean of sharks...by some.

I just watched a video: KPIX TV, The Maze, Haight Ashbury 1967. It shows the hippies job bank run out of the book store at Haight Ashbury. All the people went there to get day labor jobs. If this guy lived near bye with his brother, he would be gone from the official rolls. The video is quite good.
