Hmm I wonder where Ross lived in 1969 then.
A few minutes ago on a toilet not very far, far away....

The issue, as far as Ross is concerned, is the likelihood of him travelling all the way from Santa Cruz to Vallejo to do the Z attacks.

Funny thing is, the guy who runs the site with the photos of the stationary, makes a good point that Z might have traveled to SF for other reasons and drop off letters he had pre-written. There might be a clue to this involving the stationary:

bermuda-triangle.org wrote: I personally find it probable that The Zodiac did not live in the immediate Bay Area. His first set of letters, 3 sets in number, all near-identical, and all sent to rival Bay Area newspapers, introduced himself as the murderer of the Vallejo victims, David Faraday, Betty Lou Jensen and Darlene Ferrin. He used Eaton marked paper. His next letter, a very significant one, was written on Woolworth’s “Fifth Avenue” paper. This is the letter in which he first introduced himself by the salutation “This is the Zodiac speaking.” It was written quickly in response to Vallejo Police Chief Jack Stiltz’s request in the newspapers for him to send more details in order to prove he was really the killer. He wrote the letter off the very day Stiltz’s request appeared in the papers.

After this he reverted back to Eaton marked paper. This makes that hasty letter a significant break in his pattern. The pattern suggests he did not live around the Bay Area but visited on business trips. He was not in a position to answer Stiltz’ request on his own stationary, so he bought paper at a local Woolworths. Robert Graysmith notes there was one not far from the San Francisco Chronicle.

BTW, Great thread everyone! Almost every post here is a nice contribution.

Wait, the largest and busiest Woolworth's was at Powell and Market. That's only three-ish blocks from Geary and Mason.

Close as well. More east, but the blocks are short and if you want to shop, that would be the closest area. I've walked from that YMCA building to Geary & Mason, it's quick and has quite a few old theaters along the way.

in one of these posts, didn't Ross talk about his need to write to
keep his sanity when he lived at the Y? [maybe he didn't do
enough writing? :) ] and with the Dad's connection, it has to be.
we most likely will never find a San Fran address because when
he was there, he lived at the Y. and his occupation at the college
listed him as food server? or, more likely, dishwasher. just like on
his obituary. he could have had employment part-time as a
dishwasher at several places in the immediate area including
Vallejo. and they could also have been paying him cash, no record.
restaurants used to do that a lot. what more do we need? just one
person that knew him fairly well during late '68 to '70.
that said, hopefully his luck is about to run out!

obligatory "you guys keep saying he lived at the ymca and there's no evidence he lived at the ymca". this is how theories turn into facts.

Here it is-
viewtopic.php?f=106&t=2448

If this statement is true, this proves Ross thought about violence towards others
