Might be easier to find Phillip. If he's a student, might HE be in a UC SC yearbook?

Wouldn't 3 people in that apartment be a bit crowded? Although, it would explain how they were able to afford it.

The reason we looked into the UCSC yearbooks was to find a later photo of Ross, closer to the Zodiac years.
Why look for a photo of his roommate?

I wasn't thinking about a picture of Ross' roommate. I was thinking more about trying to find the guy, and yearbooks might have clues in that regard. What class (age), activities, and so on. If Phillip and Terry were living with Ross, wouldn't finding them and talking with them about Ross be of considerable interest? If so, first thing would be to track one of these guys down, and if Phillip was a student where his brother and Ross worked, it would seem that school would be the logical place to start looking, and the yearbook, which people here have access to, the logical first place.

Agreed, Marshall. It doesn't say where Phillip was a student, but most likely it would be UCSC. On the youtube video posted early in this thread, it said one of the apartments is a 3 bedroom.

The issue, as far as Ross is concerned, is the likelihood of him travelling all the way from Santa Cruz to Vallejo to do the Z attacks.

Funny thing is, the guy who runs the site with the photos of the stationary, makes a good point that Z might have traveled to SF for other reasons and drop off letters he had pre-written. There might be a clue to this involving the stationary:

bermuda-triangle.org wrote: I personally find it probable that The Zodiac did not live in the immediate Bay Area. His first set of letters, 3 sets in number, all near-identical, and all sent to rival Bay Area newspapers, introduced himself as the murderer of the Vallejo victims, David Faraday, Betty Lou Jensen and Darlene Ferrin. He used Eaton marked paper. His next letter, a very significant one, was written on Woolworth’s “Fifth Avenue” paper. This is the letter in which he first introduced himself by the salutation “This is the Zodiac speaking.” It was written quickly in response to Vallejo Police Chief Jack Stiltz’s request in the newspapers for him to send more details in order to prove he was really the killer. He wrote the letter off the very day Stiltz’s request appeared in the papers.

After this he reverted back to Eaton marked paper. This makes that hasty letter a significant break in his pattern. The pattern suggests he did not live around the Bay Area but visited on business trips. He was not in a position to answer Stiltz’ request on his own stationary, so he bought paper at a local Woolworths. Robert Graysmith notes there was one not far from the San Francisco Chronicle.

BTW, Great thread everyone! Almost every post here is a nice contribution.

I know what you mean about the common name, Morf. It could be Terry, Terrence or Terrance, too, and we don't know how old he might be. Ross was a good 7 or 8 years older than the incoming freshmen in 1968 so the field is wide open as far as age is concerned.

Who are the "Cindy Kennedy" and "Phillip Kennedy" at "R512 2D ST APT 2"? What is the difference between R512 (Cindy's/Phillip's addresd) and H512 (Terry's address)?

Possible email address for Cindy at http://www.sleptrainers.com/contact

Just sent her an email. Fingers crossed.

EDIT: Wrong person. This Cindy was not born until the late 60's.

I found a Ted Kennedy, who is 71 years old, and once lived in Santa Cruz who is related to a Terry Kennedy.

Who owned the property? Do they have records? Dates of occupancy? Forwarding address?

Also, in the next year's Polk guide ... 1969,right? .... are the possible roommates still there? Or does the address have new occupants?

Here is an obit for the woman who owned the Hillcrest Apartments where Ross lived in 1968.

Here is who lived at the 512 2nd Street address in the 1969 Santa Cruz Polk's Directory. None of the Kennedy's were in the 1969 directory.
