According to that article, Charles Henning was 18 in 1969.

This 1977 article mentions "Michael Charles Henning", age 26, fined for drunken driving.

BTW, there was a stationary store in Santa Cruz a very short walk from Ross's place.

Remember, Katz mentioned Ross was into "art painting." Considering how close he lived, the odds are very high he would shop at this place.

Ok, that is very interesting. One of the ads mentions they sell "Zodiac" stationery!

When did he start using the name Zodiac? The August 4th 1969 letter? That's only a few weeks after that ad ran.

This one mentions GIbson cards:

From Graysmith:

"The card had come originally with only one peering 'evil eye.' Zodiac had added twelve more, and had given the printed skeleton eyes as well. The cutout skeleton on the inside was portrayed in a mock crucifixion. The card was manufactured by the Gibson card company."

Ok, even more Zync: In 1960, that stationery shop sold Mikado tickets!

This appears to have been next door to the Palace Stationers store:

The store's Halloween ad (Source: Santa Cruz Sentinel (Santa Cruz, California) · Thu, Oct 22, 1970 · Page 12):

Cards and cut outs? Just in time to put together Avery's halloween card (Oct 27, 1970)?
