And I actually have info and a pic of a house they moved to that was gorgeous at one time. their first house was a paronage associated with a church, now a parking lot. Anyway, I don't think you can be thrice Ivied and have come from a poor family, so perhaps an inheritance?
{I had also wondered how he met Harold met Harriet (if this has been discussed before, apologies), but I thought she might have gone to one of the seven sisters (back when women couldn't attend most Ivies), not cheap either. And since she was from Maine, I started with Smith in MA, as it was associated with Yale and think I found her. And Harold did attend Harvard after Yale. Smith is not cheap either. I also figured she was well educated, and hope to confirm that in the next couple weeks. She was in the outing club (don't know what that was) and did crew, listed as class of 1938. Again, might have had a big inheritance- crew was usually done at mainly at private/prep schools back then.}
Don't know, just surmising.

I've always wondered why, if they were so well educated, they lived in such slummy apartments. It wasn't just one, it was all of the them. The apartment on Harvard St. in Glendale was a one bedroom and there were FIVE of them. Harold had degrees from Yale and Harvard and worked at the YMCA. Isn't that odd?
