In the video the cops being interviewed by the tv newsmen at the time, mentioned the suspect was a larg man over 6 feet tall. Reddish hair is mentioned, with a very distinct "widows peak". also, the film mentions how Ross attended a wedding with Bates. That's to much coincidence. I have always believed that finding the identity of the Zodiac, would be accomplished by solving the Bates murder.

Maybe they teased Ross at the wedding about why he hadn't found a nice girl to settle down with. Perhaps Ross fantasized about himself with the attractive young Bates girl. Although he desired her, his self esteem was to low, to make a play for this girl. So instead, he decides to stalk and kill her. He can't have her, and nobody else would either. He grew more obsessed with this young woman and became more angered he could not be with her. Finally, out of his mind with rage and unable to control himself, his bizarre arrest inside a phone booth is on record, he has interaction, in the only possible way he can contrive. He becomes her apparent savior, by offering to help her get her car started. Unfortunately, the only help Miss Bates received was having her head almost cut off. That act in itself is quite personal. An act of a raving madman.

Holmes that video is by member here, PaulAverly. I really like the video, not just as a Ross video, but as a Zodiac video. However, I do think PaulAverly made a few assumptions about Ross. I don't know that we have any proof that Cheri & Ross both were at the wedding together, although it's very possible, and pretty obvious they likely knew each other.

Sorry Morf, I just sent you a message re. just this thing. I guess using the search engine isn't as good as exploring the forums on your own. Sorry about that.
Specifically, has anyone found any of the weird poems he supposedly wrote? He supposedly wrote some in "Viewpoints", the school paper.
Looking the video and the description, this is kind of heating up for me. He was someone I gave a cursory look to at first, but he is starting to look more compelling due to the handwriting.

Oh I didn't know Paul Avery was involved. Robert Downey played him very well. He is the investigator with the best handle on this case. His video makes it appear that Ross is surely the best suspect, by far. Thank god we still have Paul around, as his background with the case is beyond reproach.

PAULAVERLY,
not the reporter, PAUL AVERY. The Reporter, Paul Avery is dead, not sure if you were kidding with that or not.

As far as Ross being the
best Suspect, that simply comes down to opinion. What is a fact, is that he is the
ONLY Suspect that can be placed in the RCC library where the writing linked to Zodiac was found.

I have seen the posting by Paul Avery on this forum. I thought he was the real guy. I was unaware he had died. As far as being the only suspect linked to the library at the college, it is unlikely anybody but him was involved. I have always expressed the idea that the Zodiac would be found via the 1966 murder. As far as my opinion, as soon as I read about those women in the library. They knew who did it. The idea that they actually made mention that if Ross came back to the wall he
hung out on at the school, with new clothes on then he was the killer. And the next time he came back around, he got rid of his bloody clothes. That did it for me. Women always know these things. You can not fool a woman, unless she wants to be fooled.
