Departments regularly purged their files to get rid of unnecessary and outdated things. Since Ross was not arrested for a felony, his prints, if they were taken, were purged at some point. The only prints that would be kept for any length of time would be people arrested for a felony. Even if he was charged with a felony, I bet they would have been purged after his death.

and that is definite....100 percent? we don't need to go over that
again later? someone on this site jumped me last week for making
the statement that we didn't have his prints. i like facts just as
well as the next person, however there don't seem to be a lot of
them in regards to Ross as Z. so we need to continue to build that
circumstantial case against him. however, i was questioned also on
DNA. well, LE stated in 2013 that they had Z's DNA. that''s huge. they
also weren't saying where they got it. so, how do we KNOW it didn't
come from the bindings at LB? please no hearsay replies. post a link
with the FACTS. thanks Seagull for answering my question.

In my experience in speaking with LE and learning about procedure I am 98% sure this is what would have happened. There is a 2% chance that I am wrong. The only thing I can suggest to the disbelievers is to contact Santa Cruz PD and ask them what becomes of prints that may have been taken in 1968 for someone not charged or convicted of a felony and who died in the 70's. You don't have to name names or be specific, just ask what the general procedure for anyone's prints would have been.

His wife Stella lived across the street from my grandfather. He used to hang around that strip bar, Nicky's on Gorham St. In Lowell. I remember my grandfather throwing raw, old hamburg, across the street to their dog to eat.

My grandma lived in Lowell. Small world. Douglas Road.

No kidding, Douglas Rd. Is over in Belvidere. That's the ritzy section off Lowell. My old doctor lived on Clark Rd., right around the corner from your grandma. That's a nice area for sure. The old mill owners and bosses built their homes there back during the industrial revolution. I retired early from the phone company, and I almost moved to Lowell, but instead I moved down south. Yeah, I'm in RI, and is it a great place. Oh forget about it.

Yes, if you want the answers, pick up the phone and call law enforcement yourself! Many people would only take their word for things anyway. Napa did not get any testable DNA in regards to the Zodiac case. Surely they will tell anyone this who asks.

From what I recall, the DNA sample came from one or more of the letters. That's what was compared to Allen's DNA to rule him out. DNA from the bindings, if there is any, is likely worthless; they were handled by many others and likely tainted. I believe there's even a pic of Toschi holding them. Sorry, don't have a link. If you do a search on Allen/DNA/letters or something to that effect, you can probably track it down.

here we go again. Tom Voight's site has postings stating in 2013 a lady
with LE said they had Z's DNA. no ands, ifs or buts. she also said they
were not revealing where they got it. so, stamps, bindings, etc is just
your GUESS. if you don't believe me, check out Voight's site under DNA.

Your on the right track, up2something. It is Narlow and Lonergan in the newspaper photograph holding the clothesline with their bare hands.

you're missing the point, folks. wherever it came from, they claim
they have DNA. why are we chasing all over for circumstantial evidence,
when what we need is a sample of Ross' or a close relative's DNA.
Tom Voight seems to get LE to listen to him. do you think Gyke's DNA
hasn't been checked by now? most like it has and there is no match.
what we really need here is some DNA. it appears fingerprints are out.

Who is going to give them the DNA sample. The Boston police intelligence unit tried to get DNA from Albert DeSalvo's brother, but they failed miserably. They brought in undercover cops to walk dogs around his house. He lives on a dead end street, and he is a very streetwise man. He didn't fall for their childish games, and I'm sure Ross's brother won't either. They had to get DeSalvo DNA off a plastic water bottle that was discarded by the Stranglers nephew Timmy. He died last year, so they are lucky they got it before he died.
