Great find Morf. Your dogged research will pay off one of these days, but your find confirms pretty much for me that Ross is not Z. I hate being the buzzkill, but 300lbs is noticeably obese. At the highest range he was estimated to be 220. In PH witnesses had him at 160. Still, Morf, your research is as usual very impressive.

As far as we know though QT, Dave Peterson also had the name "Ross Sullivan".

People have a very hard time guessing weight. That is why it's a carnie trick. The 300 is big but might not be accurate.

No way Z was 160, that would be skinny even at 5'8". The taller he was the heavier he would need to be to appear stocky.

I would assume - I know that's a bad thing to do - that where the article says:

"... the naked man, who was six feet two inches tall and weighed 300 pounds"

That that means that that was the actual height and weight measurements taken by the police after his arrest.

Yes - that seems likely. The paper appears to have its info from the police - no witnesses are quoted. I guess the police would have either measured and weighed him (not sure if that was standard procedure) or perhaps obtained the info from his driver's license.

A man of normal weight, even at 6' 2", should weigh a bit less than 200 lbs. 300 is at the top of what this site considers "Obese."

Bigger than that -- well, Google "Tor Johnson." He was 6' 3" and weighed around 380-400. If Ross kept putting on weight as he got older, that might be what he looked like by the time he died.

I'm 5' 8" and weighed about 135 lbs. in my 20s. I'm 160ish now and definitely need to lay off the tacos.

I am well overweight now and 6 ft tall, but have a large frame hands jawline etc. now I am fat, but when I was 265 I actually was not very fat, so Ross being 6ft2 and 300 lbs, he could have been a tank but not terribly fat

By the way, the reason his name isn't mentioned is likely because he had to be admitted for mental evaluation
