I'm starting to think that Thoresen and Kaczynski knew each other. I have been working on a few theories about Kaczynski having a partner or two (maybe even more), and Thoresen has a lot of the traits I was looking for.

Anything is possible, and I certainly would be interested to see anything you find.

I tend to be skeptical of theories that Ted K was the Zodiac but did it in a conspiracy with one or more other persons. mainly because as the Unabomber he did all of his crimes alone. ted was a classic lone wolf, and unless he was very close to someone and trusted them, I can't see him working with another person doing murders. And Ted was really not close to anyone. On the flip side, he did go to a few Earth First! meetings, so it is possible he might have looked for allies. But no evidence that he found any.

I have found out quite a bit about Thoresen and really think that he may have been involved and that Zodiac was a way to draw attention away to gun and drug running that Thoresen had going on.

To me, there are very good suspects for Percy (Thoresen) and Robison (Scolaro).

There is none in the Bricca case - although a Cincinnati author did make a strong case for the veterinarian (Leininger) to be involved. However, I read his book and it just didn't make any sense to me. Apart from the Bricca case it was an otherwise very good true crime book, detailing 10 of Cincinnati's unsolved murders from the 1920s on.

But he focuses on this local suspect and there just is no evidence - later on he states that the vet (who was law-abiding before 1966, and law-abiding after this brutal triple killing) seemingly committed suicide in a Cincinnati hotel in 2004. But I've been unable to unearth anything more than that he died a natural death in Florida that year (to where he retired).

The Sims case in Tallahassee, October 1966 is also interesting - although not the Midwest, it is very similar to the Briccas and contains a sexual element, also.

I tend to think that Bricca and Sims could be related, because of the close-up child killing, for one, but that neither (nor Percy and Robison) have anything to do with Ted Kaczynski.

People complained - with some justification - about proposed code solutions that used anagrams. Yet in the Robison family murders a person with inside knowledge of the case, probably the killer, sent a letter using the names ZODIUS and DR GUIDINI to the newspaper. Using a Caesar shift matrix for Kaczynski you get BOTH of those names, in correct order, left to right read, no anangrams.










The ad mentions ZODIUS, almost one year before the ZODIAC announced himself to the world. Both come from the Latin word ZODIACUS.

Body of Mrs. Robison covered by a blanket. The bodies of Domigos and Edwards were also covered by a towel, as were some victims of the EAR/ONS. Like the bodies of Domingos and Edwards, the bodies of Mr. Robison and one of his sons were placed on top of each other. Former FBI Agent John Douglas says posing occurs in less than 1% of murders. Like Valerie Percy, Mrs. Robison had her dress lifted up to expose her.

Police ballistics reports in the Robison Family Murders indicate a .22 with six lands and grooves, with a right twist. This matches both Domigos and Edwards Santa Barbara 1963 and Zodiac 12/20/68.




The brutal attacks on three American families - Percy, Bricca, Sims - between September 19, 1966 and October 22, 1966 - is terrifying and inexplicable. Dr, Sims was a nationally reknown expert in the just developing science of computers and an official in the Florida Dept of Education. Charles Percy was the CEO of a high tech camera and business machines company and running for US Senate. Gerry Bricca worked at Monsanto Chemical. On October 30, 1966, Cheri Jo Bates is murdered, like Valerie Percy a college coed.

Several years ago I contacted the police in the BRICCA Family murders, a horrible killing of a family in the Cincinnati area. The father worked for Monsanto Chemical, a company that was involed in genetic engineering of foods and of which Ted Kaczynski later said employees of this Monsanto company should be "hit hard" and "hit where it hurts". There is evidence Mrs. Bricca knew Valerie Percy, who was brutally murdered just one week earlier. The Bricca family was found dead September 27, 1966. Percy had been killed one week earlier in suburban Chicago, and Bates killed in California one month later.

I spoke to the Captain of the Homicide/Major Crimes squad for HCSD - which struck me was unusual - and he was very interested.

He called me on the phone after looking at my evidence, and I explained possible similarities and links between the Percy case, Zodiac and Bricca.

I explained to him that the 1963 Domingos/Edwards murders were a possible Zodiac crime, so that is probably what he is thinking of when he talks about the similarities of Zodiac stacking bodies and the Bricca case, with the female on top of the male. Capt Zoellner is indeed refering to Domingos/Edwards as a possible Zodiac and perhaps in the context of information on a known serial killer and Zodiac suspect with Midwest ties (Ted Kaczynski) who was living in the Michigan and Illinois areas at the time of the murders.

I still think the best chance of solving the case is if Zodiac can be linked to crimes other than LHR-BRS-LB-PH, so this angle is of immense interest to me.

I agree. The good news is they have DNA in the Bricca case and sent it to the FBI. Based in part on the information I gave them, the police mentioned the Zodiac Killer as a possible suspect in the Bricca case, and I can tell you he is also being looked at as a possible suspect in at least some of these other unsolved and possibly related Midwest cases.

I also think something other than my information linked the Bricca case to the Zodiac case, because police interest on a scale of 1 to 10 went very suddenly from a 6 up to a 9.

If something definitive linked Zodiac to one of these Midwest cases like Bricca, Percy and/or Robison, it would tell us a LOT more about Zodiac then we know now and very well could lead to the identity of Zodiac and the solving of all these cases.

The Zodiac theory is mentioned by police in this news clip. I told police the Domingos-Edwards murders were only possible Zodiac crimes. The placement of the female on top of the male happened in Bricca and Domingos-Edwards, and the police also mentioned the use of pre-cut rope and the female ordered to tie the male as similarities between Bricca and the Zodiac Lake Berryessa attack. Linda Bricca had some of her attackers hair in her hand, as did Cheri Bates. And as I said, the sequence of events and the sudden increase in police interest in the Bricca-Zodiac connection leads me to think they probably uncovered something else that links these cases that they are not going public with at this time.

I hope they catch a break.

What are the odds of ZODIUS and ZODIAC not being connected? I just don't see that being possible. Maybe they are not the same person, but they are damn sure tied together (in my mind anyways).

I agree 10,000%.

The Robison murders got some nationwide coverage, but the ZODIUS mailing to the Detroit News mostly was covered heavily in the state of Michigan, perhaps with some coverage in the Midwest. It did not get national coverage.

At a bare minimum, I would say that it is very likely that Zodiac had spent some time in the Midwest generally or more likely Michigan in particular.

As far as known killers who are major viable Zodiac suspects with Midwest and Michigan ties, certainly Ted K fits the bill, though there may be others I am not aware of at this time. Any other Michigan or Midwest Zodiac suspects?

Even more likely, I think it should at least be seriously considered if ZODIUS and ZODIAC are one and the same.

Not only did ZODIUS and ZODIAC use nearly identical names derived from the Latin ZODIACUS, both used .22 with six lands and grooves right twist, both stacked bodies, both wrote to newspapers demanding their words appear in the paper and both targeted male-female couples.
