Mount Diablo and Z's transformation into a concerned citizen

I have been interested in the fact that Z changes his focus from close-up lover's lane murders to bombs threats and Mount Diablo in 1970-71. This is the period when "Save Mount Diablo" is established, in response to development threats in the area. The transformation from occultish slave collecting killer is complete by 1974 (if one accepts those letters), when Z becomes a moralizing concerned citizen. Looking at this evolution, it is hard not to think of TK.

Good points. I agree. It should also be noted that after being seen and a sketch developed, for the first time, at the October 1969 Stine killing, Zodiac stops doing in person crimes (that we know of) and turns exclusively to letters, bomb threats and sniper threats. When Ted was seen as the Unabomber and a sketch developed for the first time, after the Utah 1987 incident, he stopped committing known crimes as the Unabomber for six years.

Good points. As further proof of your idea, see this June 12, 1970 letter to the editor (hmm, who else wrote letters to the editor?) of the newspaper in Brainerd, Minn., by Ted Kaczynski. Ted expresses opposition to development of land.

And it would be about halfway between the two bus bomb letters, so consistent with the emerging change of focus.
