I think jsmesmsv just responded to the previous PM and didn't realized all registered posters were attached to it. I just responded to jsmesmsv and I'm pretty sure my message went to just him! If it went to others then all registered members was attached to it. An easy mistake to make, especially if typing on a phone with a small area for fingers, but an easier area to make mistakes.

The PM's are not in error.

This started when ggluckman replied to a PM he received and accidently clicked on "Registered Users" (it's at the upper right of the PM reply screen in a box labeled Groups) because he was on his iPhone and didn't realize what he had done. This caused his PM to be sent to the entire membership of the forum.

Apparently what jamesmsv did when he replied to ggluckman's PM is click "Reply to sender and all recipients" to the right of the "Send Reply" box so again every member got another PM.

The PM system did what it was asked to do and worked fine, it's just that ggluckman unknowingly hit something to begin with and things snowballed from there. This is a learning curve for all of us as even I did not realize that could happen, Tahoe27 was the person who figured it out when the mods were trying to understand what happened.

I got one too. All this sudden surge in PMs makes me feel soooo wanted.

The forum has seen its highest numbers of members visiting per day in the last couple of days because of the PM situation, too, Patinky!

There is a silver lining to this after all!!!

I am tinkering around with the PM system and seeing if I can get this corected. Effective immediately, users here will NOT be able to send PM's to multiple users, or to groups. Basically, they will only be able to send single PM's one at a time to one single person. In addition, I am taking out the 'email your PM' function (some people were emailing private messages)so now you will have to actually send a PM directly.

Anybody, please feel free to test the PM system out now, and see how it's working. Please post the results here and/or pm me. Thanks

I am also going to test out the PM system, and send PM's to various members here. If you get one,please respond via PM to let me know you got it okay. Also, if you get one that was not intended for you, please also contact me. The test PM will have 'TEST PM' in the subject line.
