Forgotten 80's/90's movies

Postby ophion1031 » Mon Dec 01, 2014 5:48 am

I grew up in the 80's/early 90's, when movies were actually good! There are the movies that everyone (including the younger generation) has seen. Then there are the movies that not many people have heard of. A lot of these movies that are/were not well known are still better than most of the crap movies being made today. This thread is to honor these great movies!!

Some of my favorites...

Stone Cold (Brian Bosworth)
Moving (Richard Pryor) My favorite Pryor movie, but for some reason is an unknown movie.
Gleaming the Cube (Christian Slater)
Flight of the Navigator
Rad
Thrashin' (Josh Brolin) Awesome skateboard movie
Prayer of the Rollerboys (Corey Haim, RIP) One of Haim's movies that not many people have heard of.
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (Andrew Dice Clay) Hello, hello!
Brainscan (Edward Furlong) Furlong goes inside of a video game and kills people. Pretty awesome!

I'll play....was just talking to someone about this the other day as well...

Maximum Overdrive (Stephen King)
Cloak and Dagger
Wargames
Pump up the Volume (Christian Slater)
Trainspotting
The Crow
SLC Punk (personal favorite)

And I would like to add one that came in 2000 - Requiem for a Dream - one of the best movies ever made in my opinion.

One I liked, really obscure, 'Dangerously close', who knows,I may not like it now,but i did back then.

The fast Times at Ridgemont High sequel, THE WILD LIFE, seen by a few but one of my faves

How about, FIRST BORN, with Peter(Robocop)Weller, good flick.

Also, who can forget MY BODYGUARD with Matt Dillon, great movie I have on DVD.

Another fave, THE LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN, awesome soundtrack, and some funny scenes despite some bad acting

And don't get me started on any horror movies or slasher flicks, as I likely have seen 99.9% of em from the 70's and 80's

Seen all three and all good flicks. I'm also one of the few that saw Wild Life and another good coming of age teenage flick from the 80's. I add two good army style movies from the 80's, Uncommon Valor with Gene Hackman , Southern Comfort with Keith Carridine and Powers Boothe.

Moving was pretty good and I liked when Richard gave them the wrong finger. I liked Stone Cold also but I was a Boz fan so that might have help. Just saw Boz 30 for 30 on Netflix about his life and anyone of a fan of his I recommended it.

First Born was a good one. Corey Haim's first movie, I think.

Boz is awesome! "I gave the man the wrong finger. The index finger." Classic!!! "Your name is Arlo? That's a f-n funny name, you must laugh all the time."

Maximum Overdrive, Pump up the Volume and SLC Punk are all in my top 50 movies of all time! The Crow was really good, but wasn't it kinda mainstream? Wargames was a good one, too. Nice list!
