When I was growing up in the 80s, I really got into wrestling. Of course when I got older, I learned that it was fake. I still watched anyways. In the late 90s, it became like a soap opera. It became so obvious that is was just actors playing out a script. It started to really suck! I couldn't take it anymore, and stopped watching. A lot of my favorite wrestlers were getting to be past their prime anyways, and I didn't care much for most of the younger ones. The Ultimate Warrior was always my favorite. I remember going crazy whenever his intro music would play.

Warrior died last night outside a hotel in Arizona, collapsing while walking to his car. Pretty sad day for me, even though I haven't liked wrestling for a very long time. Still, it was a big piece of my childhood. Warrior (aka Brian Hellwig) was 54. I'm guessing it was a heart issue, and being a wrestler, it could have very well had something to do with steroid use.

Once saw an interview where one of the wrestlers got asked about this fake issue..he almost killed the interviewer and said something like 'what do you think how this can be fake if one throws you from the corner on your back that this wouldn't hurt and that he had broken several bones before' etc..

I read RIP Ultimate Warrior and sat up in shock! I too grew up in the late 80'a and early 90's watching WWE (WWF as it was then) and my favourite wrestler was Warrior and I was even the proud owner of the VHS "Warrior: Greatest Hits." I can't believe he is dead because he had made several personal appearances recently and looked really healthy.
Well I think I should show my respects to him and his legacy by tying several strips of coloured string around the top of my arms, painting my face in the traditional Warrior and then, after putting some heavy metal music on loudly, sprint from my house around the block and stop only to shake some imaginary ropes now and then.

Truly shocked and a bit gutted to discover he has died because he was such a part of my growing up. I remember vividly that I had a warrior stuffed toy about 1 foot tall and David, a friend who lived down the street from me, had one of his own but his was Hulk Hogan and this led to what we considered at age 7 or 8 to be a very important debate..... who is better, Warrior or Hulk? Me arguing in favour of my toy, the Warrior, David responding wish a case for his toy Hogan to be declared the best. This caused very serious discussions with much evidence being show from both sides in the form of matches involving both nominees with me ending the saga by stating that in the showdown at Wrestlemania VI I believe it was, Hogan dropped his finishing move leg drop on Warrior and Warrior kicked out, then hit Hogan with his finishing body splash and Hogan was pinned and Warrior Won. This almost caused the two of us to end up in fist fight of our own lol.

And his name wasn't Brian Hellwig, it was Jim. Then he legally changed it to Warrior claiming he owned the intellectual properties to all Warrior related merchandise and he filed suit against Vince and the company for the rights to the name and he won.

His first character name way before his glory days in the WWF was Jim 'Justice' Hellwig.

I don't watch wrestling anymore, but I did see a video from a couple nights before Warrior passed away. He was at some WWE event speaking (I think it was the night he was inducted to the Hall of Fame) and I noticed he seemed to be running short of breath. Here is the video...
