This video is particularly funny for any metal fans, it's a wonderful middle finger to those idiots who get into genre wars on youtube comments (I'd imagine most of the fashion statements would mean nothing to non-metal fans). Aside from that, the 8-string guitars, insane drums & bass, and lyrics about the golden ratio these guys are frankly amazing (and don't take themselves too seriously)

That's a shame to hear - maybe they were having an off-day. I went to a Dimmu Borgir a few years ago, a gig that everyone said would be amazing going by past performances and they were shit. Amon Amarth were on before them though and were bloody amazing so I found a new band that night at least.
Funny you mention these old school death bands (I guess they are traditional death?) , I grew up with 80's/90's metal but could never get into that side, stuff like Allegaeon is about as deathy as I get.
Did you check out Sylosis?

YES!!! I love doom metal, and also stoner metal, which is pretty similar. Sleep, Bongzilla and bands like that. Have you heard of the French band called Ghost? Not really doom, but has some doom influence to it. They are pretty good.
