Yep, that is the right song. Macabre is one of my favorite bands. They are the world's only "murder metal" band.

That was ..... err.....Awesome :D

Sometimes I don't think to check things out. I've played in bands that sounded like that but I have to confess that it took me a long time to 'appreciate' those styles of singing. The music side though I enjoyed. I might check out more of Macabre's stuff. Ahhh takes me back. Must be 20 years since I played that sort of stuff and I was trying to remember the name of the band I was in then ... Corpse Candle. We got t-shirts printed, recorded an ep, practiced 24/7, drank 23/7, played one gig and split up ... now that's Metal lol.

Got any Corpse Candle tunes anywhere to listen to on the net?

Unfortunately not. I don't even remember what format they were recorded on, probably tape. Now you've got me wondering if any of the tapes are still out there. Or even if I have one somewhere. I don't think I do.

If you find any, I would like to hear it!! Someday I might post links to some of my older bands and solo projects, but probably not. The two bands I was in back in the 90s never recorded anything. The band I was in from 2002-2003 has very poor quality recordings. From 2004-2010 I was in a bunch of bands. One of the bands recorded some stuff but it is the worst quality you can imagine. We placed a handheld tape recorded into a dryer in my friends garage that we jammed in and hit record. It's awful and I never want anyone to hear it. The only other band that recorded anything was Nemacyst which was a 2 man band featuring me and my best friend Kory (RIP). We had like 5 songs but only had 1 that was completely finished. Kory uploaded it to our myspace page and I never had a copy of it so now I am trying to figure out if there's a way to download it from the myspace page so I can upload it to other sites because it's a decent song. Since Kory passed away I vowed to never work with another musician again and have been working on some solo stuff.

The band from 2002-2003 was called Demon Core. We have stuff on youtube but it's not all that great.

I really don't think murderers like zodiac are "cool" or should be glorified the way that they are here by these bands. There are members here that know the victims families, imagine them having to hear that music. It doesn't seem appropriate.

Yeah not to start anything but its not like anyone is being forced to hear these songs.

I know that those people aren't going to hear them. The point was to question why YOU want to hear them.

I understand the point of heavy metal music is to )hopefully) provide catharsis by exploring dark themes, not just celebrating them, but there are also a lot of people out there that view serial killers as some sort of cool anti heroes that are challenging society, instead of the scum that they are.

I also know that to most people Zodiac might as well be a fictional character because we know next to nothing about the real person, but they forget that his victims are real people.

When I think about how Joe Bates must have felt getting a letter from the man who stole his daughter's life, such a cruel and cold blooded act, I can't understand wanting to listen to that man's words in a song and wearing his picture on a Tshirt.

Looks like you already answered your own question.

In the case of Macabre - they are more of a musical version of a true crime book. The reason one would listen to Macabre is the same reason someone would buy any book on any serial killer. It's human nature to gravitate towards what we don't know.

Take the 'Dahmer' album for example - it's a biography.

Here's an album review for Macabre that has the Zodiac song on it.

"Depending on your point of view this remastered album Sinister Slaughter ...from Macabre... is either good, clean, sick fun or done in bad taste. My feeling is that it perhaps lies somewhere in between, however make no mistake this is one of the finest examples of early extreme metal. I mean c'mon, where else are you going to find a whole collection of songs devoted to some of the world's most notorious serial killers, not to mention the hilarious mock Sgt. Pepper album cover design.

...Whether you're reveling in the devastating power of "Zodiac", "Killing Spree (Postal Killer) or laughing you ass off while singing along with the catchy chorus of 'I'm going to strangle you and slit your throat too, I'm going to kill you just because I want to' on "Vampire Of Düsseldorf"

http://www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=6617

They also have songs called "Edmond Kemper had a horrible temper", "What The Heck, Richard Speck ( 8 Nurses You Wrecked)" and "Albert )Fish) was worse than any fish in the sea." and have someone dress up as the Zodiac during their concerts and perform mock executions of the band members.

Yeah, real educational stuff. This is clearly played for laughs or to "shock". Disgusting.
